Does anyone here use just a plain MacBook (2.4Ghz) to edit HDV video? Im looking to buy one, but wanted to here reviews first. How does Final Cut Pro perform on a MacBook? Thanks

Hi. I feel like this has been asked before, but I've searched the forums and I haven't been able to find a definite answer to this question. Capturing 1080i50 (PAL) in Final Cut Pro 5. When using FCP5 on my mac, the only way I'm able to capture footage, is in Apple Intermediate Codec, without any device control. Is this really the only way?

Sorry for posting in the wrong subforum. Obviously new. When I export it to Quicktime straight from FCP, it just looks standard DV. Again. My preset for capturing is just "HDV" as it won't let me select anything else and work. And I'm filming in HDV mode, either TV 60 or Cine Mode, and export using the Apple ProRes 108060i. I know I've done no correction or editing whatsoever. But it just looks ...

Just scale the footage up by about 5-10%. In FCP double click the clip so it loads into the viewer. Make sure that Image and Wireframe is ticked in the drop down box above the viewer window and then grab the edges of the image and drag outwards until the edges disappear.

Hey all, I just wanted to outline a way to salvage your problem HDV footage and get it to look a little more filmic, all things considered. One of the earliest tests I shot with the HV20 was of an intersection at night with cars driving by. After de-interlacing, I noticed that the taillights and traffic signals looked really bad.
