OK, just went out and took some 30 second night shots. I notice a bunch of white, green and red pixels. Is it the Christmas Elves or what?

The doll's face is without much detail but I see threads in the fabric so it looks fairly sharp. Hard to tell on a 1024 wide pic of course. Congrats on the new camera! This kit lens is actually pretty sharp when it is focused properly. Learning how to focus isn't as easy as it sounds however.

FWIW, a photographer who's skills I know to be solid has been using one up in Wisconsin and he posted some HS BBall shots that IIRC were at ISO 6400 in ambient only and while they're simply on Facebook (take that for what it's worth) they look very clean (but very flat due to the lighting in the gym.) One of the lenses he was using was the 85mm f/1.2 which we know isn't normally a "sports lens." He was...

Just curious, thanks.

I've shot a 30D for about an hour at -5 (couldn't stand the cold any longer) not a lick of trouble. I left the camera in the car ahead of time so it would be the same temperature as outside.

Still coming to grips with it and read on a review site that images are sharper if shot in M or S rather than L.
That's like defeating the purpose of getting 5DII, isn't it? LOL. I see no difference after using it for close to a year now. So... prolly his (reviewer) eyes were playing on him.
I shoot to RAW for assignments and everything ...

^^ I like the processing on that one Jeff. Maybe it was just the light, but I love photos with the stark, slightly desaturated look to them.
In other news, I just purchased a 1DsII !!! It's coming from the States but I got a great price and is in really good shape. Should be here in a couple weeks.

We like to see the pictures from 7D, There are numerous threads with lot of talks, no pictures or pictures buried down the thread.
This thread is for real world 7D pictures and technical details of the shot only . Thats it.
Thanks in advance for the lucky few having the newest toy in hand.

Well, either way, the 1D3 is better at noise out of camera by at least 1/2 stop (according to Nicksan). My 1D MKIIN was about 2/3 stop worse out of camera. So to go back any amount, even 1/3 of a stop would be a huge waste of money for me as a 1D3 owner. And as mentioned ISO is just one aspect.
I've always said the 7D is a good camera, just not as good as the 1D3, imho. So there is no need ...

I'm guessing that if I kept my 1DIIn until it died....it would outlive me.
May you and your 1DIIn have many years together.
