I voted for the 85L and the 135L because i believe these two lenses offer the sharpest photo out of them all... i could vote for the 24-70 and the 70-200mm f2.8 L IS, but i believe they are not as sharp as the primes (obviously) but offer great versatility which is what most photographers would rather look for than sharpness. i tend to shoot a lot of portraits at wider apertures than f2.8 which is why i picked the 2 primes.

I'll chime in on the side of those that suggest waiting and finding out, for yourself, what you can use. We are all different. There is no universal "must have" anything, imo.

It looks like it keeps up with the 135L in good light with the focus limiter set.
In low light, you can see it hunts quite a bit more that the 135L.
It also seems like it is "struggling" when you defocus it to its fullest.
On a couple of tries, you didn't defocus it all the way and the AF locked in pretty quickly.

For those wanting some comparisons - look at the tests at 16-9.net. Though
he has not done the new ZE21 yet I believe.

Surely this can't be right. Does the 50mm f1.8 outresolve it at all shared apertures?

When I read the 50 CM suggestion, I thought - "Of course!"
If you wish to avoid CA, the 85/1.8 is not for you.

I just got this brand new lens, will try to post something tonight...
Simply unbelievable. Super sharp wide open, almost no CA (have you seen this Canon?).
Impossible quality, the focus is so smooth and perfect, I will love this lens for video.
But most of all, the colors, contrast or whatever this is - the pictures look stunning.
Completely different than the average Canon "look", so ...

I have the Canon non IS version as I shoot mostly motorsport. I've only had it a short time but I'm really pleased with it. I posted a couple in the lens thread.

It will be less sharp in the corners and vignette a lot more, but I don't think it will be black in the corners. It mounts and focuses just fine.
