Hi all, We are Kenn & Temple, backyard birders in St.Louis MO. We've loved watching our birds here for years (erm... ok decades), but we've only been trying to photograph them for about the past year. We got our Canon specifically to take pictures of our first Bluebird nesting last Summer. Since then we've been avid shooters, and very lucky to capture about 50 species so far. We're ...

As I was watching these birds and wanted to get a little different look. By waiting for poses, getting a lower shooting angle and Shorter DOF I think I got better BG seperation.

So new gear requires a duck shot right? Well no duck available but then the equipment is slightly used anyway. I traded some macro gear (100mm f/2.8, ST-24EX, ext tubes and very little cash) for a low count 1D MK2 in BEAUTIFUL condition. Very happy! Anyway no duck but this hummer offered me a rear view shot as I went into the backyard to play. Shot w/ the100-400 and the 1.4x behind it, exif ...

The sunflower that is. These birds are just so beautiful, I have to stop what I am doing to either watch or photograph them. I never get use to them to the point I can look away.

Had to share this here. Someone in another forum mentioned you can get the 40D to do an equivelant of ISO 6400 by shooting at ISO 1600, set exposure compensation at -1, take the shots, then in ACR, bump Exposure by +1.00. This gives you a Pseudo ISO of 6400. Meaning you can shoot at pretty high shutter speeds even on dark rainy days, like it is here today. Cleaned up after resizing, with ...

I was offline for a few days due to my trip to Yellowstone - which was jammed packed with tourists! We also went to Grand Teton which I liked much better. Anyway, when I left for the trip last week I went through North Dakota to get there, and was planning to come back through South Dakota, stopping at the Badlands to do some photography. Yesterday as I was leaving Grand Teton, I called the vet ...

So as I was leaving pretty much empty handed tonight I see a GBH fly past me towards a lake. I follow it and find it standing up on the edge of the lake. So I set up to take some shots and once I' m set up it walks towards the water, turns toward me, stops and then does this.................and I'm not exagerating. There was another photographer trying to get over to take some ...

It was a cloudy dreary day today but this juvenile male pileated woodpecker decided to cooperate. He actually seemed to want his picture taken. Light was very limited so the shutter speeds were very slow. (40D with 500mm IS) Bob 1. 1/25 sec, f9, ISO 400 2. 1/40 sec, f9, ISO 400 3. Blow-up of number 1.
