sounds like the bulb could be bad! That is where I would start. You also should wait a good 10 mins before you restart.

hey mclovin.. Thanks for the reply. My area is 3x2 . i need 192cfm .. right now i have 160 + another small fan that im not sure of the cfm rating on .. When i bought the lights htg told me that their duct fans were perfect for aircooling the paticular hps lights i had. So i purchased those and the flange/ducting thinking that it would really help with heat. but it really doesnt. With 1 light on aircooled into the attic , the temp is 79F-80F....

Whatever Bro- if you insist, go for it. I am only trying to give you the benefit of my experience, that's all. I have been involved in damage claims. The insurance company will always look for a way to avoid payment. Anything they can use as an excuse, and I mean anything, and you will have to take them to court to win the claim, regardless of the actual cause of the problem. I do not mean to infer that you are a shoemaker, or are going to...

I was thinking the same thing about the light, but you have to figure the
shelf comes out a foot on each side, making the actual width 6'. Once the
plants start to grow towards the light and finish their stretch they are
about 24" from the light which is about perfect. I believe the octagon only
uses 600watt lights, thus the smaller diameter. As far as the corners,
there are no plants in the ...

I got the ballast from HTGsupply.com but their online store isn't working for me right now. Looks like a trip to the hydro shop tomorrow. So no ideas what could've shortened the life of my bulb? I'm wicked careful, only touch it with a sock, etc... The ballast looks top notch, but I could be wrong.

heat comes from the element within the light bulb (lamp). so if you have 2
different light fittings well then you have double the amount of heat. and
its the same again with your light coverage, 2 lights = double the amount
of light coverage. the only bad point is that its using double the amount
of power and therefore costs double the amount to run.

It states that it is fuse protected, but then doesn't say what rating the fuse is. And we would also need to know how you plan on using it, step up or step down. And to be honest, why bother with it?

Before you even CONSIDER this, please get a co2 meter. Yes it's done often but very dangerous if not done correctly.
