My neuro/onc told me that it "wasn't a huge deal", but that may have been because I do not have the deletion. Maybe she didn't want to worry me. I think she told me (it was a while ago) that I would be "slightly less likely" to respond to chemo...so I guess that would mean that your wife would be more likely to respond well to chemo Good luck Anjie

Hi Tammy. I've been reading through your posts, because my wife has the same diagnosis (oligodendroglioma gr2). Her tumor is smaller than yours, but it has spread deep into her brain. The new areas are poorly defined, and without a doctor to point them out, we can't tell what we're looking at. One doctor has told us that the spread of the cancer indicates that it's probably actually a grade 3, but it's too risky to do...

Hallo to all Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Mark has his 2 month MRI on thursday, and the tumor is just sitting there, so yay! He will be stopping the Temo this coming april, and still continue with the VEGF trap infusions. Whoo, can we every just relax with these tumors?! Welcome & hello Krista Yes this is good news. A higher grade tumour would be very difficult to contain & treat (with tentacles of tumour growth from the main tumour) although in saying this there are treatments available for higher grade tumours. Good news that they were able to "debulk" most of the tumour & with the oral chemo & radiation & the "slow" growth factor I'm certain this will ...

Tinman12, no one here is qualified to give you a diagnosis. You should seek help from your own medical team. It does not sound like the symptoms I had or those that I have heard about. However, this does not mean it is not cancer or some other issue. In any event, these symptoms are significant enough to warrant a visit to your doctor. Good luck.

I'll answer my own question: genetic tests come back quicker than forum responses. She does have the deletion. Another question: we know that's good news, but just how good? Is this just statistically better, or is it a big deal?

I am so sorry that your husband has a GBMIV My mother died of one back in 1998 so I know how that was for me and my father. I do not know anything about cilengitide but will do some research into it. I know any info you get now will be too late to help in the decision to start or not to start the Temodar. You and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh dear plugh, I can only imagine who worried you must be. In 2005 when my grade II returned, I had to wait for months before the cancer board gave their opinion. The waiting was indeed hard but during that time, the tumor did not noticeably change even though from 1992 to 2005 it had changed from a grade II to a grade III. Plugh, you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. My your ...
