Protest during the 2010 Games won't be led by a large group with broad appeal, a Vancouver city councillor suggested. "To be honest, I don't see a big anti-Olympics movement," Geoff Meggs told reporters yesterday. His comments came as the city announced new changes to its contentious signage bylaws. The ability of people to express political messages critical of the Olympics has been a huge issue in recent months....

It pleased me too, believe me. Losing a billion is not easy for greedy merchants. I think there are millions of Americans who think that they are seven feet tall and superior to all foreigners.

How is it that tolls on bridges work then????? Never pay off? Is that what we are told about those things? How about T.O or Montreal. DO they not have those turnstiles? B.C. has spent $500,000 to create an Olympics education program, but do you think B.C. kids should be learning about the Winter Olympics in school? well, the provincial government says yes, but teachers are rightfully angry.. The government has spent more than $500,000 over the past three years to create an Olympics education program-, which includes a website and DVD with curriculum recommendations for teachers, incentives for schools to...

This has little to do with our Canadian problem. It is good to know that in Afghanistan the US have a large camp that is worse than the one in Cuba. How much of any oly's protests will we be allowed to see anyway? No signs allowed. News outlets have money to be made from all the events and have likely been politely asked to play mostly favourable stories. Much like at election time. D

somewhere else they shut down an automotive/tire department as they unionized. I've read the Wal-Mart handbook for employees and it's all about them. no surprise that few have full time status, no benefits whatsoever. I probably wouldn't hate WM as much if they looked after their employees.

I ran is a classic case of blowback . In formal, print usage, the term blowback first appeared in the Clandestine Service History—Overthrow of Premier Mossadeq of Iran—November 1952–August 1953, the CIA internal history of the US’s 1953 Iranian coup d'état. The US and England have been meddling in Iran since the first oil well started pumping. By 2001, Iranian politics were moderating and ...

you can stiff the wife/kids or whomever else but you gotta prove why they deserve this. I am sure the Journalist can handle the matter. Our "Homeland Security" like their few minutes in the limelight, exercising their authority. The prudent bow to these people and inflate their egos to get on with the journey. Often the uniform goes to the head of these petty people- such is life. And they carry guns thanks to Harper.

Torture is a very serious crime. It goes deeper than a broken rule. It puts the guilty countries in the same box as the most vicious dictatorships.

The child fell from the upper departures level in Terminal One to the lower arrivals level at around 7 p.m. Sunday, said Peel Regional Police Sgt. Peter Riemenschneider. Police...

Hecate Straight has a reputation among boaters (usually fishers) and fliers for bad storms rising very fast, often without warning. One can peacefully leave Prince Rupert on calm waters and wind up in a gale half way to Queen Charlotte City. I've made that trip several times. That definitely is the wrong ship. What is wrong with that over priced idiot who runs BC Ferries? What's wrong with ...

If there are indeed any truly selfless xtians in Vancouver let them get to work helping in the ways they say they will. Human nature being what it is, it is doubtful they will not be preachy with their giving but some actually can behave well while giving a helping hand to others on occasion. Too bad there has to be a special occasion such as the olys to do so. D

In fact, the "Take Back The Party" group is urging a significant shift left for the NDP in espousing dogmatic language and marginalized platform ideas that would be a recipe for disaster. I posted an article about that yesterday asking if the Marxists are taking over the BCNDP. The Marxists are the ones behind that campaign. Read it here No, what's needed is to honestly define the ...
