Transmission Mount keeps breaking..
Published (2009-11-08 03:16:00)
Got an ES mount! After going around to 3 different auto part stores. Autozone and Advance Auto Parts told me up front they wouldn't carry it. O'Reailys told me at first they wouldn't but one guy saw the part on the shelf behind them and was like OH! But needless to say, it works great! Feels good to push down on the gas pedal! Yeah saw why I need to not use that one plate and ground down those rubber bumpers flush.

It is natural for it to move a little under hard acceleration. If it is excessive..I would look at the motor mounts for sure.

If you are asking how to make the swap, or for more info, this topic is covered on the "Drivetrain" forum. I'll move your post there. A "search" will turn up numerous references to swapping a T56 in place of a 4L60E,

Whos used a non F-body rear

and who said anything about a 1/4" bushing? The collar would probably be in the neighborhood of 2.5-3 inches on each side, for a total of 5-6". I agree about the trussing as well. Not as big a deal as you're making it sound. But there does need to be some added reinforcement for the joined axle tubes. Something I had planned on doing anyway.

question on rear end length
Published (2009-11-09 00:13:00)
id love to have the nine for when im launching on a 150 shot off the transbrake but im sacraficing my c6 vette wheels because of the offset. is it just as easy to lengthen a rear as it is to shorten it? I know i will need new tubes and axels but they are readily available. that way i can have a set of prostar/ mickeys for the week end and c6's for the street.

4l60e what is this?
Published (2009-11-05 01:35:00)
I just drained my transmission fluid and took off my trans filter and there was 2 small rectangle piece of flat metal about 1/2 inch by 3/4 inch both are exactly the same size inside my trans filter I heard them inside so i shook them out. What the heck are these things. My trans pump broke during installation thats why I am pulling out. Can anybody tell me what this is???

Yea, I had it set pretty dead on. Lets hope I can get yours dialed in to where it needs to be. Might pick up an ls1 DS to throw in there as well.

Bump. Anyone?
My wife is having the same problem. Especially when it is cold outside. You almost have to punch the button down to get it out of park.
I'll be trying the search more to see if I can find an answer, but if you know, please tell me.
Thanks
Brad

dooo it.
If you can weld all the bracketry on right, it's just a matter of getting the right width, bolt pattern, u-joint size.
git yerself a duece and a half axle. and axle tubes aren't cast, they're mild steel.

4L60E problems
Have a 94 z, 3500 converter 4.10 gears some weight reduction. Rebuilt the trans after it broke the sprag from the first rebuild. Seems like 3rd gear sometimes goes in right but sometimes you have to let off it then hit it again. It will hit the limiter if you dont. I had the same problem with the stock converter as ...

The 3rd Gen rear is about 61.75" wide, and fits under the 4th Gen. Whether you need to "tub" it depends on the backspace and width of the wheels. The 4th Gen rear is 64.75 wheel hub face to wheel hub face.
The torque arm bracket is going to be a challenge. Here's the Moser solution - 3 tubes welded to the housing for bolts, and a huge casting that bolts to the 3 tubes. Hard to sort out ...

The donor LS1 was in a wreck maybe or slid into a curb bending the axles near the flange.
To add to that, if its bent, it might ruin your brakes and tires.

A poly mount will work but will transfer more vibrations to the car..just a trade off for a mount that will last.

Suspension specialist Dick Miller bases pinion angle settings on horsepower. Miller likes to see 2 degrees of negative pinion angle (relative to the driveshaft) on applications in the 400hp range, 3½ to 4½ degrees in the 500hp to 650hp range, and up to 7 degrees with 700 horses or more. Miller also acknowledges that the greater the pinion angle, the more horsepower the driveline will consume, but...
