In the 1990s, GM was run by a group of outsiders who were highly talented and successful in the fields they came from, and had great vision in those fields and was able to communicate well. We know what happened. Rick Wagoner was perhaps the best finance guy around. Period (he'd have to be to have kept GM from caving in all these years). I feel that the next CEO has to have a strong background in industry and/or someone with an unusual...

Guy, any word on why Nissan and Infinity weren't even there?
FWIW, I finally got to sit in the 2010 Camaro and I absolutely loved the dash and interior.

If Ed can see some major issues with the attitude of some 'GM-lifers', then he should be culling them (all).
However, I'm not sure I agree with the comments that the next GM CEO must have extensive auto or heavy industry experience per se. What they must have is vision and the ability to lead.
I've often wondered how a Steve Jobs would go from running a dynamic company like Apple to ...

Dumb...Dumb...Dumb - you can't "undo" what you did in a bankruptcy court.
The dealers were named as debtors who wouldn't accept a package by GM and Treasury to save the company from bankruptcy - just like creditors wouldn't.
Who got screwed? The only 2 of the 3 that made changes to save the company money will be the UAW.
The dealers gambled and it looks like they are ...

I was in love with the 2010 SRX... until I saw it in person. Its much smaller than I thought it would be. (my daily driver is a 2002 Tahoe so I guess I like big.) For bang for the buck, I'd rather get the Equinox LTZ, however I was impressed with the CTS Wagon. If I still had rug rats at home it would be a toss between the two.
Luckily for me I don't so...

Why would GM want to keep Saab? What's it done for GM, except be a colossal financial black hole. Yeah, they might've got some turbocharing and FWD knowledge from them, but not near worth the amount of money they've sunk into them. If Saab doesn't go the way of Saturn (assuming no other buyers step up), then that's a huge step backwards into the old-GM way of thinking.

In my general perception, Saab is kind of the lost luxury brand, at the bottom of the list of true european Luxury competitors like Audi, BMW. I'd say it's probably somewhere between the Japanese competitors like Acura/Honda. Honestly, I don't think Saab is a brand that's well-received anymore, except the few diehard enthusiasts that have hung on over the years for the sake of the Saab name....

I can't believe the Fit is on the list. I swear every review I have ever read of that car is that it was a POS with terrible build quality.

North American Production
Ford plans to build 550,000 vehicles in the first quarter 2010, an increase of 201,000 units (58 percent) compared with the first quarter 2009.
This is really good news. Hopefully the sales numbers next year will support the increased production.
