Anybody here done a zero-carb diet?
Published (2009-11-28 17:11:00)
Original Post by gi-jane : Given the way the OP keeps posting the same silly 'diet' ad nauseam I think the glucose deprivation is clearly starting to take effect..... On the other hand, he provides wonderful cautionary tale.

Rather than getting in a state start with some facts.... Have a look at this site which is aimed specifically at the under 21s.... http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html If you enter your stats you'll find that you're a perfectly healthy weight for someone your age and height. At the lower end, even. BUT.... As you get older your body is going to change. You're going through puberty at the...

What changes did you make?
Published (2009-11-25 18:16:00)
The biggest change I made food-wise is to log everything I eat as accurately as possible. That means using a scale when I am at home, and estimating as best I can when I am out. From that big change came many small changes that help me stay on track. The biggest change I made exercise wise was to add a progressive calisthenics program every day. I literally have missed one day in the past 6 months, and I just...

1200 Calories is working for me.

Original Post by trikki : At your height, weight, and activity level you are going to be able to lose on MUCH more calories than that. Why not do it?? There's NO downside to eating more. In fact, it will only help your efforts now and in the long run. This.

2 lbs should not make the difference between you being happy or not. If it makes you that unhappy, you really need to throw out the scale. You will not be able to maintain that weight your whole life.

what kind of stimulant..?
Published (2009-11-28 06:21:00)
Ephedrine is a circulatory stimulant. The physiological effects of ephedrine mimic those of epinephrine, but are more prolonged. Epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) stimulates the production of glucocorticoids (also known as cortisol). Ephedrine accelerates glucocorticoid production in the body as well. However, glucocorticoids will impact weight gain only if the patient has pre-metabolic or metabolic syndrome. That's a very...

OK, I'm not like you, because I can cook. :) But similar in alot of other aspects. First thing you should probably do is think of what foods you like to eat that are also healthy. Write out as many of those kinds of meals as you can think of. Then, make sure to make a grocery list before you go to the store. Every Friday, I make up a list of what I need and then shop sometime over the...

The store I work is located in the food court of a mall.....fill in the blank.....and it has made me really good at finding the better to healthy options. Original Post by roanokedad : Although several have indicated this already, I cannot stress enough the level of variation that you will see in day to day weight. What you see below is based on an maintenance plan after some pretty significant weight loss. For the cart, calories in, exercise, scale, weigh time etc. are very consistent over the time-line shown. Some of the daily ups and down are dramatic. A single...

I'm not one to moan, but something I have notice more and more on this forum.
I am currently 140lbs and 5'2 (25yrs old). I have recently lost 13lbs and to be honest, even though I am just outside my healthy BMI range, I am more than pleased with how I look. When i reach 124 (my goal weight) I can tell you now I will maintain and enjoy.
Its just that when I look on these sites i see girls ...

I dont know your stats(Height age and activity level). But, try upping your calorie intake to 1500-1600. I think you might be starving yourself and thats why your craving food and crashing so bad(judging by your other posts).

The problem is that i was doing real well before the evil day of thanksgiving fattening foods. So i think that in order to get back in the diet-wagon and burn all the thousands of calories i ate today, i am thinking about exercising 2 times a day for at least whole month of december...

i loooooved weight watchers. the online tracking is so much fun and so easy, but very similar to what you get here (tho easier). except, with this program i tend to go under on calories all the time, because im thinking of the math.. but on weight watchers i would happily eat every last point i had for the day, and a huge and delicious meal to use up my weekly points. I lost about the same ...

I totally understand, everytime I step on the scale I am normally discouraged. I would say, wait just one week- drink a ton of water- not literally ;) but stay hydrated. Weigh yourself in a week and see where you fall. I will make a deal to wait one week, and considering I weigh in 3 or more times a day every day, it will be a huge commitment for me :)

1,000-1500 is not nearly enogh for a teenager of yoru stats. You should be eating 1800 calories per day totally inactive. Use the counter here http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/healthyeatingcalculat or/eatingCal.html.  ; Figure out whats healthy for you. But at 1000-1500 you are starving yourself. I put in a dob of January 1,1994(the year you where born) and came up with 2200 calories for less ...

Superbowl is a worry for me, too. I am still debating on what I can eat while everyone has nachos and cheese and meatball sandwiches and beer. I thought perhaps I could have wine instead in a small glass so I can control the amount. If I have that towards the end of the game, I can look forward to it. Also, I'll make hotwings (or buy them) and cut up veggies. As long as you don't feel ...

For about a month I've been counting calories. The scale has not budged until I started taking supplements (all natural and vitamin-based) for Thyroid support. I've also added carb-blockers, made from kidney beans, to my diet and guess what? The scales have budged!! I've also noticed that I crave less carbs and I'm so much less...

I haven't seen too much abusive behaviour in these forums. Whenever I do though, I always say something about it.
For the most part, people have been really nice, encouraging and supportive here.

Everything you say is spot on! It really all comes down to eat less, move more...but, of course it's not that simple. Nothing worth doing well ever is. The quick fix that everyone seems to be searching for just doesn't work for the complex organism that is your body. Like you say, the evidence surrounds us that fads and extremes are not the answer. Thanks for your comment!

Hey folks, I am in the midst of preparing for the upcoming holiday with thoughts of how to maintain my diet. I for one have chosen to stick to my calorie limit and maintain my weight loss from this past week. I have two places that I will be visiting for Thanksgiving. One thing I am doing to stick to my calorie count is seeing what each place is serving. That way I have an idea of the calories...

I've only been on here for less than a month and every day I'm seeing people posting about eating extremely low calorie diets, most of them teenager's that really don't need to worry so much about even losing weight. Even when I was over 200lbs, I still ate close to maintenance, I just increased my exercise and had no problem losing 1 1/2 lbs a week. Seriously, unless your obese and having ...

I probably gained like 3 or 4 pounds but I did not jump on the scale because I really did not want it to ruin my day! I will weigh myself in like a week and I am sure I will be just fine... as will you!
I am sure after a week of some hardcore shopping you will be fine also :P

Hello all: anybody here heard or tried a zero-carb diet? Because I've been trying to do a diet with very little carbohydrates almost zero. I know it's real hard but it's pretty good. The main premise behind the philosophy of low-carb and zero-carb diets, is that the less carbohydrates you eat in the day, the less insulin your body will produce. And the lower the insulin-levels the less fat we ...

Most people experience stress at work, some more than others, but unless your boss is forcing food into your mouth she's definitely not making you fat.
