Insomnia and weight loss
Published (2009-11-10 22:13:00)
I am sorry to hear about PTSD -- it's a condition that needs early psychological intervention for decent outcomes and obviously it developed sometime ago now. So, to answer your question on weight loss -- exercising not too late in the day should actually help with some of the sleep issues. If your schedule can allow for lunch/early afternoon workout that would be best. Our immune systems are temporarily compromised by aerobic workouts....

chrissy gave a fantastic response. all i can add is it will get easier , ive had anorexia for 14 years , but its only the last 18months ive been actively in recovery , i felt exactly the same as you , the more weight i restore the more clearer everything becomes and you realise yes its hard but it is worth fighting for , when you restore weight you are feeding your mind as well alot of the irrational thinking does get better it has for me ....

Recovery and need support!

I am a weight restored anorexia SURVIVOR...i say survivor because this disease can kill you. It is vital to be treated and to get well, and it's serious. I suffered for about 2 years I believe and I realized that my low weight wasn't causing me any sense of relief from the pain in my life. I HATED my body, felt ashamed of the whispers about the girl with the eating disorder...ME. i HATED myself and because of that i didn't want...

Original Post by vanilla_swirl : What I'm gonna say will be rude. So beware. You writing an essay about anorexia is very, very hypocritical. Why? Because you are making threads like '' Oh is this too little cals, because I have burned X cals and blahbla'' 'and posting replies like ''what you're doing isn't healthy, you don't need to lose weight'', while you are doing the same...

No period after recovery?
Published (2009-11-10 11:56:00)
That is a possibility, although most people I know who lost their period during their teens (even early teens) was eventually able to get their period back. I got my period back at a BMI of 21.5, it is quite common to need to be at a higher weight than the weight you lost your period at in order to kick your reproductive system back into action. So just consider that even though you may be a healthy weight, you might need to gain more before...

Your user pic says that it was taken recently, halloween. You are already quite thin, why do you want to lose weight, because it sure doesnt look like you need to. What is your daily intake like, what do you eat for breakfast, lunch, tea? DO you have snacks??

Hey, my mum had a ganglion cyst on her right hand. She got it removed with a syringe twice (yes it grew back a month after). Right now she only feels a harder bump but it doesn't hurt anymore. The doctor told her not to put too much strain on her right hand and that the bump isn't harmful.

I wouldn't do too much while you're sick. I think walking is about as much energy exertion as you might want. Remember, your body is repairing itself and until you've fully recovered it needs plenty of rest. If you're still restricting calories, your body will need even more rest due to the lack of nutrients its receiving.
Take it easy. Recover first.
I hope you feel better.

So, took a brief look at your profile to get a sense of the issues.
Food allergies tend to have remarkable reactions. I am not seeing in your profile at least that you have those kinds of responses: swelling, itching, nausea, shallow breathing, hives, diarrhea. While it can still be difficult to isolate the food in question, the reaction happens quickly (an hour or two at most).
Now if you...

Maybe it is because you're not eating any vegetables and need more fats. From what I see from your old post, it seems like you need to incorporate more fats into your snacks/meals later on in the day, and add a LOT more vegetables (because I see none)

That's a pretty significant change in sleep habits.
As you've had insomnia since you were a kid, have you ever gone to a sleep disorder clinic to be assessed? Many teens develop sleep disorders due to underlying anxiety disorders, however if it started in childhood then it could have a physiological source.
Generally the range of normal sleep for adults is 5 to 10 hours -- that means that ...

I believe that, in the long term, a diet high in fat increases your risk of cancer, heart disease and probably other diseases.
Also, high-fat foods tend to be low in nutrients like vitamins and minerals (obviously not all of them, avacados, coconut, etc., are high fat and also in nutrients), so if you are habitually eating high fat foods you would run the rist of nutrient deficiency. ...

the oats with yogurt and coffee would be a better choice since you have whole grains and then protein from the yogurt. try a tbsp of peanut butter in the oatmeal as well and maybe a glass of milk.
I find that if i only eat carbs for breakfast then i am starving and your choices are not as balanced as they could be. the bagel is broken down quite quickly unless it's whole grain and there isn't...

For english I have an assignment. I have to choose a topic and write 3 different kinds of texts that are all related to the topic. I confessed to my english teacher about what was going on, not going into ...

A word of advice. Regardless of whether or not you have this "condition":
Don't EVER tell your boss that. It will ALWAYS sound like an excuse.

Hi guys,
I just wanted to drop in to say that I feel that I have successfully defeated my obsessive orthorexic disorder.
I NEVER plan my days any more. I eat what I want, when I am hungry.
If I get to 5 hours between meals, I will make myself eat but I am usually hungry before then any way!
Good luck every one, even if recovery is an on going thing through out our lives at least ...

I was never seriously, seriously underweight, but there were times when I definitely didn't eat enough. My lowest BMI was still only around a 16, not so bad...though still needed rectifying. When I was losing weight and at my lowest weight, I always thought that I couldn't think. I think that this is common with severe malnourishment, but I was wondering if this happened to anyone else. I ...

If you are 5'3" & weigh 116 and you think you look massive, then you need to get yourself to a counselor immediately.
You also need to learn how to type. No one wants to read a post that is almost entirely made up of textspeak.
