Saiga .308 Galil style...
Published (2009-11-23 22:46:00)
I did a conversion of my Saiga .223 to an AK74 and see that doing a .308 conversion will have to be different. I've seen the Galil style handguards advertised. One is for .223/7.62x39 and one is for the 12 guage. Can either of these handguards be adapted to work on the .308?

Is the mount bent? Can you use a straight edge or a square to see if its bent? Sounds like the mount is bent slightly so thats why nothign lines up. I dont think you can easily bend those back. Probably easier to buy a new one Did you get yours from a vendor? send it back and have him get you a new one

When you shorten the spring, I would check that you only shorten it the minimum amount that is required so that the spring does not go "solid" at full bolt travel. So for example, you are shortening the op-rod by 16cm, but you may only need to shorten the spring by 6-10 cm. I will ask my friend to take...
