Try a few of the combined presets in SD2.2 to see if anything tickles your fancy. I think you're right in the sense that they are not punchy on first load. That's all part of the fun/frustration - getting the sound you want. You only need to do it once.

Throe cool. glad i can be helpful. i had the same trouble as you when it first came out and took me a while to figure out. just to be a little more clearer as to what i said about using it on the bus: you can use it on a bus when you want to use two sources (let's say for example a vocal track and z3ta+) and not use the internal oscillators. just make sure "input mode on" is on, and you have 1 source panned right and the other...

Anybody else using Ocean Way Drums?
Published (2009-11-25 00:00:00)
Thanks for posting those tunes... Were you influenced by Pink Floyd at all;-) I enjoyed listening to "time". Everything sounded quality on it...Was the sax and keys virtual? They sounded good. I liked it when all the instruments kicked in. Were you gonna orchestrate keys when the band kicks again towards the end? If kit 11 is what you like I would go after it. Again, I am so happy with the kit I have after purchasing those 2 kits for...

windsurfer25x So you guys can really tell the difference? It's not just .. you spent a bunch of money and feel the need to convince yourself it's great to justify the expense? Absolutely.  Give it a test listen if you ever can.

Have you ever taken time to study the presets some of the producers have created.  They seem to either be surprisingly simple or off the wall.  As I said before, they tend to not sound good soloed but in a mix they do what they are supposed to do.  You have to ask yourself, do you want it to sound good in a tune or hype you up when you first load it up?

Rack Layout Program?
Published (2009-11-30 00:00:00)
Microsoft Visio could be put to this use. It would not be a "off the shelf" dedicated solution for your purpose but its reasonably easy to draw up connection diagrams of all sorts.

Hi Vince. There's an upgrade/crossgrade to S2 going on till the end of the month. I also think the $49 EZX deal at GC is still on as well, (although that may have been Oct.). HTH Paul

I'll probably pick up the VcS if it doesn't need a dongle. The Nomad stuff is good - the Trackbox is esp. useful since it is a one stop shopping kinda plug. Nomad stuff has a sound and doesn't work on everything, but it is kinda a dirty alternative to Sonitus and most other effects. For $20 it is a no brainer if you don't have something similiar. @...

I've only tried Ozone a little but they are difefrent in character. Ozone, to me, sounds cleaner while T-Racks have more of an analogue feel so I think they should compliment each other very well. Worth mentioning though is that with T-Racks standard you'll miss out on the beautiful Fairchild, Pultec and opto compressor emulations as well as the brick wall limiter (that one should be no ...

Unless they're very large files, I'd just rename them and leave them in place. If they were trashed due to underlying flaws in the media, that'll save you from corrupting more files the same way.

Hey, congrats on using the ARC System. I am a fellow ARC convert as well since installing it last year. If you have not read Danny Danzi's (another SONAR user) very informative thread about his experiences & tips in regards to setting up & using the ARC System you may want to check it out. It helped me when I was first setting up and taking room measurements with the IKM supplied microphone....

For me, I think it's a part of getting more experienced and knowing what I like for my particular vision of how a mix should work. Depending on your skill level, the more decision making options you have, the more chances you'll make the wrong one. Fact is, there is nothing wrong with the Pop/Rock kit and when I hear someone say that it doesn't sound good I have to wonder what planet ...
