replacement for DR-008
Published (2009-12-01 05:03:32)
I'd say Battery, too. Native Instruments claim it's 64bit compatible, although there have been some posts that users were having problems running some NI instruments in SONAR 8.5 without issues. Search around the forums here and you're likely to run into some of those posts. Yet, I'd say NI Batery is the closest drum sampler that's sort of like the DR-008. If you don't know, Session Drummer 3 is a 64bit compatibe...

Triangle I vs Triangle II

I think they each have their own character but I never use them anymore.  Pentagon 1 replaced both for me.

lightninrick ba_midi I would NOT say Session Drummer 2 or 3, however.  My main reason is that you CAN'T AUDITION samples in place!   I think that's naiive and amateur for a modern drum plugin.   And it's one reason I just don't waste my time with it.   IOW, you *have* to load the sample before you can audition it.  Ugh. Loop Explorer lets you audition...

Triangle I vs Triangle II
Published (2009-11-30 00:00:00)
I have both the free Triangle I & II and I know their GUI appears entirely different to Triangle I. But - because they have similar names is there anything similar between their architectures? And are Triangle I patches upward compatible with Triangle II? If TII is the predecessor of TI, can I trash my old Triangle I files? Mike

sfz+( v1.01) vs sfz (v1.9.7)?
Published (2009-11-30 00:00:00)
Don't be fooled by the name.  sfz+ does not load .sfz files, whereas sfz does.  Likewise .ogg files.  Only you can decide whether you care about that, so I can't "give you a reason" as you put it.

Square I skinable?

Hello guys! I just got the free Square I and I'm really really impressed by its sound! But the problem is that in my opinion its gui is kinda outdated..., so I just wanted to know, if Square I is skinable?!? cheers!  artificial <message edited by artificial on 1 day and 14 hrs. ago>

Melvin J. Great! This has truly been deserved since day one and I agree with everything said so far in this thread. I would like to thank Cakewalk for all the expansion packs as well as B Rock for his massive contributions; from the help he has given and to the presets that has offered to us, your Relative_110 and RP.64 collections show just what the instrument can really do. Thanks to everyone in the Rapture community! Where can i find those...

b rock can modulators (envelopes, lfo, etc) be routed to the waveshaping parameters? Only indirectly. IOW, an external LFO or EG transmitting a MIDI message can control the waveshaping parameters via MIDI Learn. this is baaaad... waveshapin parameters are definetly big matrix's missout..

It is funny, the other day I was looking for a .ins file for my FP-7 and my Google search brought me to your post....that was 4 minutes old at the time! Anyway, since I could not find any, I am making my own. It is just a bit boring to do but it is not that much work if you have the documentation in pdf to copy and paste from and you've done it before. I already have all banks, ...

You can open up the .ins file and edit it using Notepad or any ASCII text editor. However, if you are trying to do what I *think* you're trying to do, you probably need a synth librarian like MidiQuest. I think the only way to display categories of instruments in an .ins file would be to physically rearrange the banks and patches in your Motif to be grouped like you want them and then re-create...

VSTi, but I must make clear that the only problem with the Lo/Hi key field here is trying to assign the sample to a single note. To be more precise what I was trying to do was assigning a series of drum samples to Element 1, notes 39 to 70, Element 2 a single Kick drum sample to note 36, a Sidestick to note 37 in Element 3 and a Snare to note 38 in Element 4. The obvious idea is being able to ...

A long time ago, Sonar came with FXPansion DR-008. FXPansion no longer sells or supports it. What is the closest thing to DR-008 that can serve as a replacement (presumably for W7, either 32-bit or 64-bit)? thanks Keith

Being somewhat impatient to get DimPro working, I went for the workaround. Installed from the 1.3 installer without the sound library. Then installed the instrument on an XP Pro VM (Fusion). Copied the files over. Job done.

I downloaded most of these (FX 1 and 2 come in Sonar, so not necessary). Then I realized that considering what I already have, I can't say I would really use any of these.
