'01 vs '98 deck lid
Published (2009-12-18 14:56:00)
I think for a US 97-99 Catera the best mod would be the Omega lid with the euro lights. That will set off the car from all the other cateras and make it that much more unique. I sent a pair of the 00-01 lights to a friend in the UK who attempted to install them on his 01 Omega but he had a body shop do some major cutting on the lid to make them fit, he was happy but doubt he will ever go through the trouble again. If you find a decent...

Hi. It is possible that the belt has skipped. Check it out first before you buy a new engine

Hmm for the gasket im kind of thinking about using some high temp rtv. Im getting tired of dicking with making a gasket so im thinking a good fay seal on both the IAC and the plenum and it should seal up pretty good. And if not at least it will be easy to get to.

Thanks for the reply. My phone is also a Motorola, and I've also tried different phone model chargers and it's the same thing. What happens when i plug it in is that it goes all the way in, then it just comes back out. It's like it's not locking in. I'll try unscrewing it later, right now it's storming. But everybody keep the comments coming. thanks, David

Grille and Rotors!

I notice you do not have the regular lower airdam plastic vent, are you thinking about putting some mesh in there or something, I think that would look pretty sharp. Or a bar style one to match the grille.

I always thought that the height of the actual lights was different so while the lids may be identical, when you install the 01 lid next to the 97-99 quarter pannel tail lights you will notice the difference... it will look out of shape. Best bet is to ship a lid and lights form europe, or trade the US one with someone from over ther... it will cost over 100$ but it will make your catera ...

Is there any fire hazzards to this installation? Also, do you notice any smells or fumes from the engine compartment? Seems like a great little mod, if any of the issues I asked about are not present. How long have you been running the HAI?

That sucks about your car. If that 3.2 don't sell before Christmas, I might take it off your hands. $$ is tight for Christmas right now, plus I'm trying to find out if I have a fuel pump issue or not. However, I did notice that my Cat is missing the rear head rests. How much would you want for yours? Not sure if you would want to take yours apart or not, but I also need rear window...

Not sure on this, but the fuel cap should have anything to do with the running condition of the car. Is the fuel pump turning on? Have someone try starting it, while you hit the gas tank a few times, to give the fuel pump a vibration. That is what is wrong with my 00 Cat at the moment. I'll look at my dash to see if I have a fuel cap light or not.

It's not smoke, just condensation. Don't worry. If it was "smoking" it would do it in warm weather also.
