i ran this T-100 for 3 seasons. a realnicebike.turned heads, and handled decently. power was good. how ever,to say it cost 14k to hop one up 6 hp is just rediculous. i am talking carbed bikes here. drop in a unifilter , slip on a set of EMGOs, and reset your low speed air screw, and possibly rejet your needles. you wil feel it in the throttle response. the bike wakes up dramaticly for a few hennert dolls. and that inludes a highly...

I agree to a point with Tommy. When they showed pics I thought that it looks pretty neat. The floor boards and non manual transmission don't have any appeal to me, but the concept does as a whole. But, $15K is going to be a huge problem. I personally thought that they would have priced it for about half of that amount. I can't see how they are going to sell. I wouldn't mind taking one out for a ride though, they look...

Here's an example of how pricey it can get: http://www.eurosports.net/custompage3.asp?pg=eurocafe Scroll down about 1/3 of the page to the Bill Himmelsbach EVO Triumph Scrambler. I agree, this is nuts. There is an update of this bike hop-up in the January 2009 issue of Motorcyclist Magazine. Two things to clarify as well: 1.) A Scrambler is around $8500 'out the door', more likely $9000 these days. 2.) As to...

I think the idea of using the airbox to create beneficial resonances within the intake system is quite valid. You'll lose that if you just replace it with open K and N's. Not to say that the performance gained or lost by either way (or leaving it stock) is all that important, after all isn't this thing rated at somewhere around 70 HP in standard form? No matter what you do to the intake or exhaust systems, you're not going...

Like the new Roundup format. Actually made the "Dream New, Concept 1" not quite a nightmare. Wide open 'till you see God! Then Brake.

I removed the little "snorkel" inlet on my old FZ1's airbox. I did end up having to use much bigger main jets than the ones recommended by Dynojet with the jet kit I installed, but power was increased EVERYWHERE! Well... right off the bottom isn't as good, but that is undoubtedly caused by the pipe (bye bye, EXUP.) It is a total fallacy that you can't improve on power on even the most highly tuned...

Go for it Indyjay... I bought one 2 years ago, and have loved every minute since. As Peter so rightfully states: a bike for every day, and every situation. Very easy to ride and flick around, much, much better on the twisties than folks give it credit for. Certainly not the fastest bike in the world, but very adequate at roughly 47 Lbs. Torque and 62 HP. This will pull you around nicely,...

I am a long-time fan of Peter's, and own 3 of his books, and one paperback. Have read and enjoyed Peter's monthly musings in both CW and R&T for many, many years. But... I can't agree with his comment about "opening up the Airbox..." on his new Bonneville. First-off, what does he mean by this - it may be as innocent as a K&N filter. Hopefully, we are not drilling holes in, or removing ...

My mailman must be keeping someone else's issue to read during his morning coffee! Great issue, folks. A few comments: Is Honda serious? A new version of the Pacific Coast? With fluid powered CVT? Footboards? They were banking on gas staying at $5/gallon. It's down to $2 now. All those people they were expecting to switch to 2 wheels are getting back into their minivans and SUV's. ...

I don't think Cycle world is all that great, but on a trip to FLA this week; I bought a copy of Motorcyclist for the plane, and it had to be the most mundane thing I've read ever. I mean I regret not just buying a newspaper instead. Maybe it's just me -- but I really could care less about motorcyle racing and weird Italian bikes that have no dealer network; which seems to be all this mag is ...

Strangely the $8 a year offered to me in my last issue -- didn't look as good to me as the 3 year $14 I found in one of those annoying post-card-type-things that falls out every time you open the mag. Message Edited by Stick_Man on 12-02-2008 02:57 PM

Let’s just say Honda decides to produce the retro-café CB1100F as seen at the Tokyo Show. Tell the truth, if it’s priced reasonably—say under $10,000—would you be a buyer? Remember, Honda reads these forums, too. Let’s give ’em some free market research.

Here in the East most Dirt Bikes need to be registered and insured to enter an enduro or even ride trails legally. Over the last few years this has become more and more difficult. KTM, Husky and Beta make street legal bikes which are no compromise. Why can't the Japanese? Imagine; A street legal KLX 450R or CRF450x. How about a street legal YZF450, or an updated DRZ400 which is lighter and has ...

I just don't get it. What is the deal with the Ducati fixation by CW and other mags recently? How many Ducatis were on the cover this last year? Four? Five? They are nice bikes and all, but sheesh, enough already. They just don't do much for me. 1982 KZ1300

I swear if Suzuki produced a fried turd on wheels (oh crap, they did...the Burgman Sport), CW would eat it up. (Oh wait, they did!) Its the same thing that Mad4TheCrest pointed out about them kissing the new V-max's a$$. Are the writers for this magazine on the manufacturer's payrolls? I used to subscribe to DirtWheels ATV mag, and they seemed the same way. Yes, motorcyles are great, but ...

Here's your opportunity to find out what happened, and what's going on currently with Norton. Kenny's going to be doing a retrospective on his career in motorcycling up to now, with a question and answer session after his presentation. Northwest Car and Motorcycle Museum, Brooks Oregon, starting at 10:00 AM. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend. We're celebrating our kid's birthdays (...

Regarding your response to Jim Clausen, I believe there is a more simple, and accurate explanation for the location of the front disc rotor. If you notice from Mr. Clausens original question he referenced the Nortons of '72 - '75 vintage. I believe, in the case of Norton and Triumph that the factories were driven by the racing aftermarket business. Dirt trackers and road racers were using Hurst ...
