Best Sprint non-smartphone device
Published (2009-11-14 22:04:00)
If you have a Touch Pro (not TP2), you can get rid of most of the bloatware, lag, and other poor performance on that Sprint branded handset by heading over to XDA forums and fiding a custom ROM to load. More info in the appropriate device sub-forum @ XDA here- http://www.xda-developers.com/

Sprint Family Data
Published (2009-11-08 19:53:00)
I posted earlier about family data on Verizon. After looking around, Sprint's prices look nice. The only problem is that our plan is only two people who use less than 700 minutes a month and Sprint's everything data plan for families starts at 1500 minutes, which is way more than we need. Has anyone out there found a Sprint family data plan where it is possible to have less than 1500 monthly minutes?

Help buying unlocked phone for...

I'm not sure what you mean...I've been thinking mostly about the ability to use the cell phone for calls...that's what i do here in europe...and occasional sms... I get the feel you might be referring to internet service, email, wifi, etc...is that right? I was guessing that i'd need pre-paid only because I don't have an account in the US to tie a phone bill to...that's why I thought to buy a sim card and maybe...

Verizon does not provide a loophole to avoid a data plan unfortunately. Even if you bring in your own smartphone you buy from ebay/craigslist and not through official channels they stick you for data. If you were willing to switch carriers/technologies, you could purchase a relatively inexpensive wifi enabled unlocked GSM/UMTS phone from Amazon (or even Dell sometimes) to circumvent...

I'll second that "Jitterbug" answer. The Jitterbug has a larger than normal keypad and screen/font size and is perfect for those folks who don't want to have to fool around with all of the crazy technology that's thrown into most other phones nowadays. One could equate the Jitterbug to those good o' rotary dial phones we all had in the past (ahhhhh, those certainly WERE the days!).......

Samsung Rant or Exclaim will probably be your best choices. Neither should make you get a data plan since they are not technically " smart" phones. They look very similar in build and have the same features so they are probably going to feel the same in hand.

Hi Rachel, The Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Earpiece does have a unique style that people really seem to like. Suprisingly, it is very comfortable too and the sound quality is great. One thing I noticed was that it doesn't have a call mute, but as a total package, the comfort, style and sound quality & cool charging case more than made up for that missing feature. I like the ...

I don't have a data plan on my ATT Tilt ( precursor to the Fuze. Most of the day I'm around wifi so I don't need their data plan. AFAIK the Bold doesn't require it if you don't mind the unsubsidized price from ATT (ouch!). If things haven't changed, the only handset ATT offers now with an absolute data plan requirement is still the iPhone. Again, the best prices are always with a ...

FWIW, Verizon doesn't use SIM cards- they're a CDMA/EVDO carrier. You could however use ATT or T-Mobile if you had any unlocked quad-band handset that included 850/900/1800/1900 MHz radios. It's easier to walk into a T-Mobile store and obtain service than ATT. I'm assuming you require pre-paid(?) -Pedro

You certainly can . Just make sure the screen resolution of the handset you're working with makes it a more pleasant ordeal. 240x320 sucks pretty bad on my ATT Tilt for RD, but WVGA on other HTC handsets is adequate IMO for the work you probably need to on the server. As always though, YMMV.

#4- Get the Tilt 2 and learn how to load a custom ROM on it via XDA forums. The phone will behave like a totally different animal. If you want to wait a little bit longer, there should be some refurbished models coming down the pike if you want to save a little $$.

the particular version of the Hero you have in mind must have the correct bands for use on the T-Mobile network in the U.S. That means 850 & 1900 GSM/EDGE, more if you need to use it outside the u.s.
