Certainly an interesting thought. It is a stepper/ballscrew setup. I'm using cnc4pc c23 bob with G201's. What do you feel would be the likely cause for that senario, Gecko or motor?

I'm with samco, if it is a stepper machine, maybe it's snapping to the closest full step rather than real microstepping. I see this behavior on my plasma table, not that it matters on that machine. Paul

Mach 3 No control on Win2000

Not sure if Mach runs on 2000 server? Although if the drivertest works, I guess it should. Have you tried using outputs, and measuring voltage on the direction pin while jogging? Do the DR's change? Is the Estop wired to an external switch, or breakout board?

Mach 3 No control on Win2000

DRO's change, no activity on port lights on diagnostics page, though when I hit my external Estop (13) switch port 13 changes status and Mach3 responds to the Estop. Estop is has two spst switches, one kills the SloSync Drivers, the other goes to my breakout board to parallel port pin 13. I had my O-scope on it when it was doing this on XP, but I don't remember the results. I'll put it on tonight and see what I'm getting at...

You can map a input to a Mach Button by using a OEM trigger and then define the trigger as a Mach3 button in the Hotkeys section. A list of the oem numbers is posted in the Wiki. http://www.machsupport.com/MachCusto...le=OEM_Buttons Five inputs are available on the first parallel port, you may need a 2nd parallel port card if you need more inputs. You can also use a macro and a GetOEMButton() call to do more complex logic (i.e test to see if a...

I have heard of this Drive system before, unfortunately i do not know any controller software that supports this directly. I could think of two ways to accomplish this tho. 1) Earlier releases of Turbocnc support a Phase drive system a modefication of this should be relative easy because the source code for this is included with the purchase of this Software. 2) Design of a electronic gadet to convert the step and direction signal to a Left...

Hello to all and thanks for the help (in advance), I am retrofitting an EMCO Compact 6 lathe. Also will be retrofitting an EMCO Turn 120P. Both currently have the original 5-phase stepper motors. I found some very nice amplifiers, but the problem is that they need some odd controlls. They do not take the normal step / direction signals. The amplifier asks for two inputs... 1) step forward 2) step reverse. I know this is also the scenario for...

Here is about the simplest circuit that will do the job... Its the lower diagram, the upper one goes from step up/down to step/dir. These assume logic levels, e.g. off the parallel port or a non-opto BOB. If your inputs/outputs are opto-isolated you'll need something different. Let me know if so...

I tried running Mach 3 on a Dell 3.4ghz P4 with 4gb of memory running XP and never could get it to drive my system. Moved over to an older PIII 1ghz w/ 512mb on XP and it works fine. I aquired a newer handmedown dual Zeon 2.0 ghz w/ 4gb that I've got Win2000 server running on and am back to the same problem. It sees my E-Stop button cycle. I run drivertest.exe and it shows excellent at about...

I have just bought an ISMM2080 handheld jog pendant and want to wire it in to work with mach3 on a cnc router.
I have purchased a second parallel port for my computer and a 25 pin solder port so I can connect all the wires. I am hoping someone has wired one of these before as I dont want to damage it by my lack of electrical know how.
On the wiring diagram there seems to be several ...

Hello, I am having a problem when cutting a dome or 3d relief. It is adding small lines or ripples (not stepover) perpendicular to the cut direction eg: if rastering in X the lines appear in the Y direction and vise versa, they also appear in offset cut as well.
I have tried differnet computers, different versions of Mach3 and Smooth Stepper plug ins & drivers (last two). Also gcode from Artcam...

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, if not please move it to the correct part of the forum mods.
The frame for my new cnc router is on it's way and I just picked up the pc I'll be running Mach on.
I'm going to do a fresh install of XP pro and then install Mach3. I'm interested in stripping XP Pro down to its bare bones so there is a less likely chance of any background applications...

I was jogging all 3 axis simultaneously happily at 100ipm no problems. When i run a gcode (g01 x5 y5 z5 f100) i get horrible results missed steps reversals etc. I figured out that the enhanced pulsing was causing this issue (when it is turned off all is perfect). I was hoping to get some background on the algorithm used for this feature, is it that my CPU isn't up for the task and i am sending ...

When I put in 1 " for my jog cycle and hit the arrow key it moves 2 inches. Is there a way to fix this? I just started using this software on a home made lathe. Using little stepper motors I got off of an old minitech machine.
Thanks.

I'm getting ready to make a bunch of the same part in one fixture and want to assign a different offset for each part. the fixture is G55 work offset and each part has its own G52 X1 Y1 ETC..Offset. My question is the G52 X & Y cumulitive or fixed off of the base G55 offset? Here is a simple example of my program, four parts layed out in a 2 by 2 pattern. Thanks!!

I have a CNC router mill table with Mach 3 latest version, Windows SP3, and I am using a Logitech USB game controller (latest driver distro) for a pendant, and made the coppertubing crosshair/ flat plate attachment to zero the axies, which is hooked up to a probe line. Also, I have a USB wireless adapter on ...

I had an old rutex 4 axis system that I gutted out a few years ago. R990 drives, motherboard and relay board.
I have a full size mill with an Anilam control, and running a job that I need an indexer for. Tonight I assembled a single axis sytem with a rotary table that I had. So now I have stand alone indexer.
What I need now is to figure out the simplest way of getting signal and ack ...
