Thanks DareBee I know it would be hard to get .0002" would he very hard. Can I even measure and get the mill bit up that accurate, probably not. But if I have a nice machine then at least I can try :-)

dertsap There are far too many companies trying to cash in on this go green GreenCut does not push there product at all & have hundreds of customers that use it all over the world I have very little vested interest in this product other than to make users of cutting fluids, that there is something better, then the petroleum base products If you read & can understand the attached web address you will see that this has been well...

Hi Geof, Thanks for the revised link. I will stop by Home Depot and see if that is the one I had seen before. It looked a lot more rigid that the Lowe's one. John

TM-1 Table Clearance
Published (2009-11-27 01:19:00)
Gentlemen: My thanks to you both for your help. I am beyond the thinking about stage, as I have a TM1 on order. I am now collecting some tooling whist waiting for it to manifest itself here. Based on the information you have provided I have decided to go with the Kurt 688, which appears to be a perfect fit. Best regards, Glenn

How would greencut help? The issue I'm having is that my tramp oil isn't making it thru the chip screen in my coolant tank. My skimmer is on the other side near the pump so I'm getting oil accumulation on the chip tray side because the oil isn't getting into the area with the skimmer. I'm not sure how a different coolant would help unless it was soluble withe the oil, but things would end up getting worse because...

Haas VF Linear Guides Lubrication
Published (2009-11-30 02:08:00)
Haas_man, I replaced all the restrictor valves and the machine seems to work fine. I check out the pressure at the back of the machine and it drops form 3 bar to 0 in about 6 minutes, is that ok? On my VF-0 the pressure raises up to 4 bar. Is the pressure at the VF-1 (3 bar) correct and is there a way to increase the pressure? Regards, Alex

The only complaint about the SS machines that I've seen is that the course pitch ball screws make it difficult to get good finishes on 3D work. I have an '07 VF-2ss, and have done enough 3D parts to know that it finishes just fine. No, it won't put a finish on a part like a high dollar machine, but I think you know that allready.
When I was comparing a VF2 to the SS model, I found that by ...

those are nice machines, if we ran production more we would have boughten one.
the insert your talking about is a pull stud that screws into the top of the tool holder, Make sure you get the exact type listed on the side of the machine. and only that type and style.
haas can supply them as well as most tool places on and offline.
dont play with it till you get training.

Before you rebuild the spindle just want to let you know that my noisy, growling spindle was cured by replacing the MOCON board.

Mike,
We have a 2000 Mini Mill (6000k spindle) & I used to rigid tap M16x2 holes in 65-45-12 Ductile Iron with no problems (full depth @ 3/4" deep). The reason I don't use the Mini Mill to do it now is because we have a VF4 APC & we can do a lot more of these parts on it. I also tapped M20 holes, but I only started the threads in these holes maybe 1/4" deep (same material as above). I did ...

Hi all,
I am new to this forum and this is my first post. We own 2 Haas VMC (VF-0 and VF-1) both 1995 models. Recently I was checking the lubrication of the linear guides. I am informed that the valves of the oil lines must be replaced once in a while to make sure that all the linear guides are correctly lubricated.
I have removed the covers and noticed that it is difficult to reach/...

but it seems the tool goes too far past where it should stop to be picked up
Do you mean the shuttle moves "to far" under the spindle ..or that the tool carousel is mis-indexed and rotated too far or too short to be under the spindle??
Both the shuttle and the carousel have ...

Not adding straight water is new to me, I do it frequently. But you do have to be careful, don't just pour a bucket of water over the machine table and then just leave it; that is a guaranteed way to get rust. Pour the water in the coolant tank with the pump running and circulate everything to thoroughly mix it. I had mentioned elsewhere that a good way to keep the coolant oxygenated is to take ...

Well I would guess that you are looking at buying a TM-1. They are great machines for for someone on a budget. I'm not in the shop right now, so doing this from memory. If i remember correctly the distance between the table and the machine column casting is a little over 3.125". This can be amazingly deceptive when your setting up the machine with fixtures and such. the reason I say so is ...

There is a good step by step tutorial posted on the Haas web site. You might want to look that up. The profile function is really easy and quite useful. Once through the tutorial and you should have it down. On the web site look under customer service --> manual updates --> intuitive programming system --> lathe. The walk through for profile is around page 8 or so of that file.
