Metal Lathe for peeling apples?

So wifey put her foot down and decreed you had to finally do something useful out in the shop? Cheers, BW PS A little WD-40 will reduce cutting forces and make your patato peeler last longer. Or, you could up your speeds by going to a carbide insert potato peeler too!

History of CNC

A lot of the history of computing is being thrown out these years, simply because people do not realize that these old boxes of bits belong on museums. I know. That's why I tried to save much I can possible ( my company makes machine modernizations ). Unfortanaly your pages are only in danish, so I can't understand it all.. By to way, Finland have very much computer technology old days. Check "Esko", first computer...

Machine was built 1983. Originally was a Fanuc 0M-A CNC control. Still has Fanuc servos, and a Fanuc spindle motor (150 to 10,000 RPM ). It has Fanuc velocity controls, and Fanuc power supply. The AB 9/ series CNC control was installed in 1992, last firmware revision in 2002. As I said, I have already downloaded the Operators, and connections manuals from AB in PDF. I still have to print them out, so I can take them out to the machine. (about...

Remeber I didnt conclude that the RF was a unridgid machine I simply asked becauseby it being a larger size it looked a bit detached because of the long Z and I know rigity and reliabilty fall hand in hand and its deff not a big solid old bridgeport. I know its deff a big step up from a x2(and the X2 would be the absolute SMALLEST machine I would buy) but I'm probly looking into comparison and any info on the X3 and sister mills comparing...

Lost reference point
Published (2009-11-23 05:05:00)
Thank you Plankman. Problem solved. The black steel plate is the mark for the reference point, I only had to bend it a little and slide it a little more in a better position, and the machine finally found the reference mark. The Linear encoder house for the Y-Axis had never been cleaned (for at least 12-16 years) because it is a lot of work to get to it. But now I think my problems are solved for now. Thanks a lot..........

Strippit #fc-750 Cnc Punch Press
Published (2009-11-27 00:36:00)
I don't have a strippit, but have other brand turrets (Amada and Wiedemann). You need two pieces of software: 1) Software to draw your parts and specify which tools hit where on the part, and to repeat that shape to fill up a whole sheet of material, and to convert that drawing/hit info into gcode which your machine can understand. 2) Software to transfer the gcode to the machine control (called DNC software). For the drawing/gcode...

I am on a modest budget and am looking to start purchasing tooling. I am looking for a good versatile vice for my cnc mill. Obviously Kurt and Chick are two big names but they also have bigger price tags. I am a hobbyist but would like to invest in good equipment instead of purchasing junk. Can anyone recomend a particular brand, size, place to purchase etc. for a mill vise?

I have manuals. A 9 series operators manual, and a 9 series connection manual. I also have an ODS manual. I can't so far find the ODS software.
Anyone out there have the software?

Bubba, sorry, don't own a Bijur, I've got the import clone just like you!
I'm wondering where that filter goes?
Is it just before the pump or just after?
If it is the latter, I'd be tempted to find myself an outboard filter and just put it inline between the one shot and your outgoing oil line. If you do that, there is likely a cheap and larger (more surface area) filter you ...

Well for them prices for a brand new machine depending on size your not going to get much, especially a lathe and a good turning center you won't even be able to touch. For a mill you could go with a 3axis bridgeport factory retrofitted with a controller what controller I don't know because I don't have that particular one, but for about $17,000 -$18,000 right out of MSC catalog I beleive is the ...

That is one excellent looking machine you have built, looks like you have a mill spindle, like to see more pictures of your spindle setup and what rpm are you getting there.
Great job 10/10
cheers Michael

Truthfully, coolant is like as*holes, everyone has there own. Call a local tooling rep, see what they have. Ask for a free sample, they will usually give away a 5 gallon pail for you to try. I personally think the Trim products are ok, but i can't stand the perfume they put in them, makes me sick. Finish difference will be minimal in aluminum and plastic. Copper, and other materials make a big ...
