Are they capacitors or R/C back emf snubbers? these can also come in a
single unit designed to hook across three phases.

Thanks for the link Mike, I had a quick look and it looks
simple enough, I wonder if you could use it without the film, just by "squeezing" some in the holes required, then cooking.
I will investigate further when the screaming settles down a bit later on tonight (3 young kids!!!)
Cheers.

It may be electical/electromagnetic noise. You might try putting an EMI filter in the power to the router just as close to the router as possible. Here is a link to one from Digikey

They have others of course. I don't know how much current your router draws, but the filter current would have to be rated higher than the router startup ...

I would think using software limits would be the best option unless you want to take the scope apart and stick a limit/homing switch in there somehow.
Can you manually put the mirror in the same position at the start then switch the
stepper drive on and tell it that it is homed straight away ? And possibly when you power it down leave it in the homed position so at restart you can do the ...

I don't think it is bad power transitors. If it were bad power transistors, it would always move at maximum speed in the
same direction when the EStop is released, whether the ribbon cable is plugged in or not. I am not familiar with the Supermax stuff so I don't know exactly what is routed over the ribbon cables.
My suspicion is that you have an encoder failure, either wiring or maybe the ...

I don't know what you're trying to do, but typically a USB to
parallel port cable will not work.
