Expanding Fanuc Control ?
Published (2009-11-09 15:56:00)
Alot depends on how much integration you want and if you need interpolation of the rotary table system and existing axis. A short time ago I integrated a 6ft rotary table, (Air Bearing) on a Fanuc 10M. But this only had integration by way of an added M code added that sent a 7 bit binary code to the table which had up to eight stored positions, each being selected via the binary code. The rotary table had a small operator interface in order to...

Ladder editing
Published (2009-11-10 02:45:00)
So, I guess, the ladder can be backed up on memory card through I/O soft key on PMC screen. When we mess up the original ladder, and want to restore the original one, what would be the procedure: READ from M-CARD, followed by WRITE to F-ROM?

Hi Al, Thanks for all the info. I tried the DIY megger but the light did not even glow a wee bit. Absolutely dead. I tested both armature cables. One thing though. I fed non grounded 220VAC (from neutral and one phase), but the light bulb is rated for this and not 110VAC as you may have in Canada. I dont know much about electronics, but would this affect the test? Another thought; If there would be a short in the motor by carbon deposits is...

Ladder editing

I've always wanted to learn how to write Ladder for the 0, 11, 6 and 15 controls. I've seen it done right in front of my eyes. It looks complex. Greg

it could be the I/O board. Also, you did not say if the flow control was changed to hardware from xon/xoff. Bill

Parameter Backup on 0i Mate-MB
Published (2009-11-10 14:31:00)
I tried the two softkey control power up again. No joy. I don't see anything to do with SRAM. I know that the PCMCIA card works as I punched the parameter information to it. I did have to change the I/O channel to 4.

do a SRAM backup.. get a compact flash card from sandisk and a pcmcia card adapter (less than 2 gb).. stick the card in the memory card slot
hold down the 2 outter softkeys under the screen and power up the control..
go to sram data back (sram data utility)up via the soft keys.. and select backup..
This is the best way to backup the machine...
now if you want to do it via rs232

It could depend on a couple of things. If the machine builder has locked the ladder or not is a big one. If they have you would need their password. If not first thing is to make sure you make a backup of the original. After that you may have to go into the PMC side, PMCPRM and then settings and turn on the bits that allow for editing and writing to F-Rom. You should stop the ladder at this point...

If the machine position show correct on the screen and no alarms, but the actual Z position is wrong, I would suspect there is a mechanical error between the motor and the final Z.
If the encoder is on the motor, it cannot detect any final error after reduction etc.

Those are good machines. The 6T controls are petty good. I had one for a while on a small lathe. 6T stuff is all over ebay just keep an eye out for your part numbers and the prices.
On a Mori SL, I would consider maybe a FAGOR in a stand alone.. maybe a Yasnac if you cold find one but I've looked at mitsubishi controls too.

Try feeding the motor armature only with a source of DC such as automotive battery.
See if it turns OK both directions smoothly and check current.

Hi,
On a oi control, parameter 3123 is the screen saver.
0 is off and any value entered is time.

I just fixed one with identical 401 error problem, no error until an attempt to move.
This turned out to be a build up of carbon on the brush housing and causing tracking to ground when power applied, fortunately I had a stripped motor that had a good brush holder assembly.
I would remove the power connector at the motor or drive end, and with the lowest resolution on the hand wheel, rotate the...

The 0 is not a bad little control, it may be worth spending some money bringing the exsisting control up to snuff, especially with AC motors.

Vlado,
About the battery - yes, all of them - parameters, programs, offsets etc. And the alarm usually says just that - no battery!
Put new batteries, hold RESET and DELETE buttons down and switch on the control. This will clear the RAM memory and the check sum will be correct. After that enter all the parameters, diagnostic data and programs from your backup. If you do not have it - look for ...

1. you didnt post the control type
2. VERY expensive to add true axis
3. Not just an unlock, hardware will be required
4. Ladder may need to be altered.
If you only need programmable positioning, you can get a HAAS or Nikken indexer 5/6 axis and run it through the comm port. May give you some axis control as well. To do it yourself with a Fanuc is gonna cost you $$$. The HAAS/Nikken is...

it doesnt work because you are using parameters for a 0 control not a Oi.
go to offset setting button..
make i/o =0
tv check off
punch code=1 (for ISO)
make pwe 1
go to system, parameters
make 101 10000001
103 10 for 4800 baud
11 for 9600 baud

On my lathe its radius and negative. make offset more negative by .0005 to increase diameter by .001. I got a note on the machine to not screw up.
