well i dont know how your is made but my gibs has a notch in it were the screw to tight it sit so i used s flat head screw driver to gently pry it out, my screw is entered about 1/16 in the z saddle but that is since i did the lapping before it was flush, but i guess this will varry since the precision of the gibs are so so

I finished the machining of the axis modules tonight so I thought I would post a pic or two of them before I went to bed. Sorry it is kinda blurry but they are so small it is difficult to get close pics.... These are obviously different than Bob Warfields in that they are much shorter since I have limited space in the control box but this should get them up off the floor and allow some of the cooling air from the fan to do it's best to...

The X2 is NOT what you want here, especially for circuit boards - or for anything else on that list actually. Besides, as mentioned before, the X2 is a hobby in and of itself. Unless you need to hog out steel or use pretty large mills, you will be giving up accuracy, speed, and about everything else you want including cost, just to get some extra heavy cutting capability you likely won't ever need. The Taig is more than adequate in...

Hey Serge, I started out a few years ago just trying to find some info online for a pantogragh engraver my dad gave me. Found a link to someone using a benchtop mill for cnc engraving. I already had a stock X2 and found out people were converting them too. I just stumbled into all this, the rest is history. Don't regret anything. Hoss

I am looking for recommendations on the best CNC mill that I can buy within a budget of approximately $3000 (maybe going up to $4000). The machine will be used for: -Occassional production work. Currently I need to produce a few thousand small aluminum parts - around 3"x3" x 1/4" thick (mostly to drill a few holes and mill some slots) -Occassional work in tool steel to make dies and ...

Hello everyone, this is my first post on here but I've been reading for a few weeks now. I'm looking at getting a benchtop cnc mill to produce small production runs of mainly aluminium parts (aprox. 100 pieces), or one off parts. All, I setup an indicator against the head of my x3 (was mounted to the table) and found that if I push gently on the side of the head, I get about 0.005-6" of play in it. When I stop pushing, the indicator needle goes back to where it started. Does anyone else have that much play? I have tried adjusting the Z gib, but it makes no difference. Thoughts?

I'm new to machining and was wondering if it is possible to make something like this with a milling machine. Basically its a rectangular inner cutout with SHARP 90 degree corners. Can this be done or does it require an EDM machine to do this sort of thing? Thanks!

Hey guys, I finally am getting around to starting the work on my RF45 Lathemaster mill conversion. I got the Gecko G320s here, got my ballscrews and nuts and I am about to start machining them. I started first be tearing down most of the machine and cleaning it. There were a number of screws that where not even tight! This is my workshop in the back of my apartment. The room measures 3.5’ by 9’. As you can see it has a bench and a tool box and some ...

Decided to get a new thread rolling for the new ATC that I started working on last week. The old ATC thread was getting a bit long and it's hard to wade thru all the info. This tool changer will, as you've guessed, have 16 tools using the same holders as the last one, my versions or the Tormach tool holders . It should be compatible with any mill, X2 or larger, that can use a power...
