I am not sure about the '73 but top line makes a rebuild kit for some of these gearboxes and if I am not mistaken very affordable. and better yet they are an advertiser on the forum hope they have what you need. Joe

Sorry, VWs in Australia never had rear window demisters or the Gas heater... that diagram looks like its for the heater... thats a wild guess... or maybe to light the heater?? I've never heard of a gas fired heater in any other car... they may have been in Europe?? Hopefully someone on here will be able to fill you in... it will be -2C tonight and in the morning......

First are you using a test light or a timing light. If you are just using a test light you will only be able to set the static timing of the engine. To correctly time a 009 distributor it must be set with a timing light. To correctly set it get the car running and then run the engine up above 2500 to 3000 rpms and check the timing at that speed. It should be around 27' to 30' before TDC...

ALL I can say is WOW! That just goes to show you that there are still some treasures out there. As for the seat material that is a tough one... They might try Sewfine but if TMI didn't have it I would doubt if they would either. Olspeed

I have no complaints. Mine has well over 300,000 miles on 'er. You do have to take care of them with constant maitenance...oil changes etc. If you do you will get many years of service.
