1985 6.2L Turbo?
Published (2009-11-29 10:07:00)
These engines have crazy good torque right off idle. I rarely touch the throttle in technical parts of the trail, even if it is a decent uphill climb. If the tires will catch traction, she will go up the side.

1985 6.2L Turbo?
Published (2009-11-29 21:49:00)
My 6.2 makes 40-45 psi at idle. Good luck pulling it down under the idle rpm it's governed for...the more you try to pull it down, the more fuel it'll add to try to maintain idle speed. That is one of the reasons they work so well off road with a manual tranny. I wheeled about half of Pritchett at BB '03 before nuking my rear driveshaft. Everything even remotely technical I did with my feet flat on the floor, at idle. If it...

Hey, thanks for your help. I already stumbled across that, there's an excellent write-up on the dieselpage of a guy who put the p400 in his new body style k2500. he also had him built a custom oilpan... I need to have that engine!

The 6.2L is nice, but you must remember which state you live in. If you change out your motor to a diesel and its registered as a Gasser with DMV, well then your off to the referee station next time around for smog. If your truck is clean, just swap in a nice 305 short block. Then if you want to get good milage, sell your truck and get a 6.2L diesel truck. Or you can go the way of us outlaws and get a CUCV military blazer... My CUCV is...

AMG Block 6.5 diesel on ebay?...

As I remember this the external locations of parts is the same. By that I mean where and how things bolt up. I don't know about the accesories though. But those aren't killer to find. My question is more about the electronics on that thing. In short marrying the truck to the engine, I know its doable, but are you able and you do live a long way from the local junkyard here

'95 up are easiest if you have no lift, they have the internal slave. late '92 to '94 will work with a 4" plus lift or if you use an adapter bell to run mechanical clutch.

The fuel mileage is typically about double that of a small block setup otherwise identical. They can last a long time or a short time depending on how well they are cared for. Even if your motor has only 63K miles, you don't know how many hours it sat idling in a parking lot.
You will want to check the bottom end for signs of the block and crank cracking. Check the harmonic balancer for signs ...

Hey all bear with me if I'm not to with it tonight, been at work offshore for 2 weeks and have another 5 days to go. I'm working on building a 86 k30 that I was origionally planning on putting in a 6.2. I then started looking at doing a cummins 6bt swap. I need a new cab as the one of the m1008 was ...

Being 2wd, I can't say if your original driveshaft will fit or not, but it should use the stock transmission crossmember in the factory position. You will need to cut a hole in the floor for the shifter to stick though, install a clutch pedal, master cylinder and hook it up to the slave cylinder. You'll also need to re-wire the reverse lights to feed through the transmission instead of your ...

The blue hose by the alternator is an oil drain. The Isuzu Nippondenso alternators came with a vacuum pump on the back of the alternator, so I can run my power brakes etc. It has oil-fed bearings like the turbo, so it'll last forever.
I had a set of custom power steering hoses made to mate the chevy steering box fittings to the AN fittings on the power steering pump. The Isuzu diesels have a...

All depends on what you are looking for in a rig. If you are looking for something that makes lots of power and goes fast, then you probably don't want a 6.2L. If you don't mind taking your time getting around, like getting better than 20 mpg, and love that diesel rattle, then the 6.2L may be the right engine for you.
I'd personally say it would not be worth your money to pay a shop to do an ...
