No Phong Shading on a Radial Cloner
Published (2009-11-27 12:09:00)
The cloning is only producing single a number of single objects - they are not welded together so that's why I think the phong is not working?

Proximal and GI render bug?
Published (2009-11-26 07:46:00)
Proximal defines a spherical 3d gradient, centered around the target(s) of your choice. In a sense, a fall-off. Ditch proximal if it's causing you trouble and use a displacement deformer (any MoEffecter set to Deform) attached to whatever you were using as the Proximal target. Set the fall-off of the deformer to Spherical, and the radius to the same as that in proximal. FYI, the Proximal start and end values are incorrectly labeled as %....

you could set lod...but that will reduce the number of clones you see.
you could upgrade to a more powerful cpu to help crunch those calculations.
or stick with converting the cloners before you show a fly through...worst that happens there is you revert to make some quick changes.

Please update to 11.528, a number of crash bugs have been fixed with that version.
If it still crashes make sure to send the report to MAXON (use the automatic reporting feature for that) and include the scene.
Cheers

Also, check out the OLX plugin from Biomekk.com (like the old object library... but oh so much more) it's free and awesome. If you want icons of the objects, you can use the inbuilt content browser. Just make a new preset library and start dragging your objects in. That way you can drag em' ...

Like almost every 3D app, c4d doesn't include a crowd simulation engine...
I believe you can use thinking particles for what you described.

Congrats.
I'm not very fond of the character stylings, nor the look and feel of the rendering output, but I do think that the pieces are very rich and smart conceptually.

I actually started this Space 1999, Eagle 1 some time ago and have recently revisited the project. So instead of posting images of what went before I prefer to concentrate on taking this model to completion.

I decided to start with the wheels - no particular reason for this but I assume they will be the set of compents that will consume the most amount of time. The Explosive Truck wheels derive from 1960's Johnny Express toy truck and some of these were found on eBay and imorted to England from the United States.
This YouTube video shows an old Johnny Express truck advert: http://www....

It's hard to see if there's something wrong without looking at a scene, it works fine for me, as long as I don't use ik.

Howdy,
As far as I know, py4d is the only python available for Cinema 4D, and I believe it's only for scripting.
There are other stand alone python development application available out there, but you probably won't be able to create plugins with them for Cinema 4D unless you know how to rewrite (in python) all the glue functions required to communicate with the c++ compiled c4d API ...
