Decent PC setup for EIAS
Published (2009-12-12 14:02:00)
The 64 bit especially concerning Maya is a real issue for me. Considering the size of data assets from my client, memory management is pivotal to success. The number of 64 bit 3D apps on the Mac is nominal to PC. My option are: 1. Cinema 4D, Houdini, or LightWave. 2. Spec out a PC workstation 3. BootCamp 64bit on a Mac. Currently Maya is not 64 bit on a Mac yet a new Maya Lic would cost the same as PC despite the fact their functionality is...

Wait a moment there, in my very basic knowledge of software you can run a 64 bit 3d app with a few emulators, i think it is a wise path to follow. There is a few people that runs Softimage 64 bit in a Mac Pro i dont see how it will affect somebodies workflow. There is no excuse why to go PC or MAC at the moment. Edgard

I use Macs as well. I heard from Paul S. that the PC version of EI8 is not working that well. Have you looked at the iMac with the i7 chips. You get a lot of bang for the buck. There is a thread below about it.

There is a freeware Preferences Pane that lets one associate all kinds of filetype indicators (extensions, MIMEs, OS X' UTIs, etc.) to certain apps. It supports Snow Leopard. Perhaps it is useful here. http://www.rubicode.com/Software/RCDefaultApp/

I believe that VMWare Fusion has support for 64-bit Windows and apps, so you could probably throw that onto a 27" iMac with a lot of RAM and have a Mac and a PC in a single, super compact machine with an awesome display.

"I'm also thinking about doing a character creation ZBrush GoZ to EI Character setup" That could be a very interesting idea, Alonzo. Hope you can. FelixCat

Hi, I've just finished a (UK) public information TV commercial, targeted mainly at school run mums, aiming to get people to switch off their cars when parked. The basic theme is that the parked cars exhaust pipe comes alive and 'attacks' passers by with its fumes... Not a big budget so quite a quick job. Modelled in modo, animated/rendered in EIAS, comped in aftereffects. A lot of credit to NorthernLights and Konkeptoine...

Blender is getting very big these days, Dynamics , Softbodies and RIgid Bodies, Hair, Sculpting tools, Vray,Lux for Blender i mean you have no excuse to not learn it. The only thing is the workflow which is being fixed in the next release other than that i think is a good idea to include it in the pipeline.
i was watching a sculpting tutorial on Blender and i was very impressed with it and ...

[QUOTE=gyro]Should have posted this a while back... The intro movie on this site was done by me, with EIAS. It's a building maintenance company, so not too exciting, sorry!
Nicely done Dave. I was expecting something quite dull after reading your last comment but I think you do yourself a disservice. Creative and technically very well put together. I liked it!
Did you come up with the ...
