they probably cant release it to the public, if they do they'll get in trouble with all the studios who paid big bucks for the licence. keep in mind that ue3 has already been used in quite a lot of games out there, so that makes it less exclussive in a way. I dont think any released game out there uses cryengine3 already (I could be wrong)? So it still has that exclusivity factor, which is kind of important.

I admire James Cameron for not taking any shorcuts with his designs but his creatures really need to be seen in 2K/3D in order for us to get a clear idea of how detailed they are. Oh my god! I thought I had seen everything! I suggest you all watch the shot where Grace says "Run! Definitely run!" again. You can see tiny wrinkles creating on her cheeks and you have to stare at her neck! You can her throat muscles, nerves,...

Dude, there's a ****ing BIG, HUGE difference between what Epic did (which was absolutely the right move in this day and age) and what Crytek did. Cryteks move is a lackluster attempt to take a slice of some of the hype Epic got for releasing Unreal Engine for free. Look: Indie developers who couldn't afford to license an engine (let's be realistic: If you're not a studio, you couldn't) now have free access to UE3.0...

Man, I loved that. I am reading the making of and I'm floored at the dedication this guy put in for making this film. I hope Chris stops by to say hi. As well, another that should most certainly be submitted to Siggraph. Which I don't think will be a problem, considering he based it after a Siggraph experience. Oh, and it wasn't just 6 years, it was 8 years of production on this if you count that he made every sound and song...

I would prefer a database file system like what Toxik had (oracle based), wiretap, and alienbrain. All have their merits.

Wow, that was really neat. I can imagine that museums would love to have technology like that. It would be really handy for archeology and art history students/professionals to have artifacts and artworks documented in 3d for research purposes. If you couldn't get to a museum in another country, being able to see a 3d model would be infinitely more appealing than just a still picture on a ...

Just curious, why would one pay $195 for this tool when you can get tools like world machine which have tons of nice features and a suite of erosion controls at your fingertips for cheaper or near the same price? Do you have plans for adding erosion type controls to your tools?
