New Laptop: dual vs quad core
Published (2009-11-27 00:40:00)
It's just my opinion, but a laptop to render needs to be at least a quad-core, which ruins (at the very least cripples) the "portable" feature of the laptop - without counting the heat generated and battery consumption. So it's better to leave the render work to the desktop and have the laptop be your creation tool. I said the Lenovo 'cause it comes with a Quadro card (Physics, Cuda), you can choose the have...

I use almost none of the default shortcuts, I've made my own system that makes sense to me, as most of the other serious Max artists I've seen.

Doesn't look like it's been compiled for 2010. And neither of the plugins loaded for me in 2010. So don't count on it working right now.

There are different ways to do that. I would blend from the CATMotion layer into an absolute layer (for the jump through the air) and use the CAT transform gizmo for this absolute layer to animate the movement of the whole rig. You could also use link constraints on pelvis and IKtargets on the absolute layer like you tried and this should also work fine. Don't know what you are doing ...

Any mesh plugged into the morpher mod has to have the exact same vertex ID's as the original mesh.So if you've changed the vertex order in any way the mesh wil usually explode like this.

If you don't have duplicated faces, you can weld all the mesh vertices (select all/weld with a low threshold value) and apply a normal modifier with "Unify normals" checked.

If you're going to use VRay, experiment with VRay's Fur system. It seems to work better. You can find it under Create >> Geometry > VRay > VRay Fur. Here's a link to help you.. Good luck. http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150...yfur_params. htm
