Perhaps it just means to distance oneself from God for a variety of reasons. One may have developed a dystheist view and simply may not trust in the goodness of God because of a lack of evidence of such. But then again faith exist without evidence so perhaps even that is a turning away.

Where scripture says"thow shalt not kill" one can and should use the word "murder" for that is what is being said.
Sometimes to kill is necessary such as when a person breaks into a home to do harm to family.
Killing under threat in that case is justified and is NOT evil.
Another instance of justified killing is when a nation is at war.
This is not murder but is defensible killing.

The only way i can rightful defend a church building is the fact we need a
place to worship together as a body of believers and to teach. However it
could look like a run down shack and still be a place of worship, but it a
natural thing to take care of the place you worship in if you are able to
