Oh man, that is freaking gorgeous work. All those mitre cuts and hole plugs...I like woodworking, but I don't think I have the patience for something like that! The oil brings out the color really nicely; I like how that turned out. Incredible job! I'll be following.

Well some bad news. The actual construction of this project will be delayed till this summer. This is due to my current lack of funds (Had to buy textbooks). The school also moved me to a new dorm room which is smaller. I will be moving into a house next semester so I should have room then. But, this could also be good news. I have plenty of time to work out the details and save some cash. After months of working on this thing it should be...

About that two teams hearing each other's sound, I've always wanted to take a gander at this device http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/techinnovations/2003-05-19-hss_x.htm Not even sure if anything based on it is available yet to consumers, but it should LOOKS cool.

No, no t-molding for me - I agree, polished edges would look best. I've cut some small pieces in the past and they were ok-ish trouble is they show up every mistake. People swear routers are the best thing to use, never tried myself though. I will definitely have a go at the thinner panels myself though - quite fancy engraving some artwork on the back or some kind of stained glass thing. Cheers

Arcade10 build day8 Thanks TOK, You are right that is a weak spot. Quote from: TOK on December 28, 2009, 07:40:11 AM When you tip it back, all the weight of the cab is levered away from the bond, plus on a very small piece of wood. I don't think the wedge is going to lever away from the bond because it is pushed hard up against the skid. I am no structural engineer but I recon the weight of the cabinet will only be on the wheels when it...

Quote from: Gamester on Yesterday at 04:56:47 PM Not bad, but IMO, other than the logo itself, the style doesn't match the rest of the artwork. The characters are too cartoonish looking compared to the CP and side art, and you need some of the splatter effects to make it tie in better. Ok, come to think of it I see your point in the style not matching. I just made another one quickly using the SFIV artwork.

No new pics yet... Working on CP sorta. In the back of my mind Im figuring out the marquee mounting... Made up a cardboard template CP. I'm mixed now on the fixed flight stick. I will probably include it for symmetry, but realized too late (Already hacked my sidewinder up) that I couldve just plugged it into my usb ports on the front of the cab for any flight stick games. Thoughts? Went to dads (Hes got a helluva setup) to route out...

Looks great! You did the unspeakable and made it playable before it was finished! I like the way you didn't frankenpanel it out seeing as you had enough room! The curves at the top look like alot of hard work too! Looking at this photo it would be handy if you could make the CP to fold up out of the way? ( just an idea)

Arcade10 Build Day2 Today I had another look at the control panel and decided my mag-stik would be better if mounted on top of the MDF rather than underneath so did some more carving out. The only dilemma I have with it now is that I have to make the recess deeper or counter sink the holes in the plate so that my stainless steel cover sits flat on top. I have not allowed for the ...

Nice find on the MK cab. Good luck on your project! I'm a Tide fan but since we are both here at BYOAC, I am your friend in MAME! Sorry we rolled over your Dawgs so badly last week. I like Georgia and have many friends who went there. Please post pics of your project as is progresses... Eric.

First thing this week was to find a monitor. This is going to be on a low budget so I decided to go with a computer monitor for ease of hook up. I found a $25 21" Sony E540 on craigslist which was just the ticket. When I got it uncased I found out it came with a whole lot of free dog hair. I cut holes for the speakers... ...and painted and installed speaker grills. Here ...

Looks real good so far. I assume you're not planning to use T-molding, since you didn't cut slots for it?? If not, how do you plan to finish off the edges? Also, if you are by some chance still planning to use T-molding, you would have been better served to round off your angles a bit (not to mention it looks nicer, IMO). Getting T-molding to fit nicely around those sharp angles is ...

for a time I had my 27" Sony Trinitron in my 1st cab until I got my WGD9800...I just had a cable running out the back connected to a small Ikea 2 shelf stand that had a DVD/Cable switcher box on it. That way my wife was able to do her exercise and watch..no need for extra exposed shelfing in the cab...that will just look ugly imo.

Day 0 (well, a few weeks of contemplating) Im going to start this project by creating the two parts that I feel will be the most difficult: the rings and the sloped area at the end of the ramp (from here on known as the hop-ramp). If I can get these parts done and looking great, I think the rest of the machine will come together easily. Yes, I am aware that I probably just jinxed ...

That's mighty ambitious, but I wish you the best of luck. Are you going to drill holes for the joysticks to fold into?
