I didn't have mine put on till I had the epidural like 7 hours after, and they just checked it every now and then before that cause I was walking around. When I did have it on the midwife eventually took it off cause I was complaining about it. My epi wasn't working and I couldn't concentrate on breathing and kept looking at the damn thing anticipating my next contraction. It was really annoying me!!! Honestly if she said no, I...

Hmmmm - that's just the exact opposite of the information I was given. That it was the best thing for moods etc because of the fact that it doesn't release hormones directly into the bloodstream. And as you know, I have to be extra careful of anything that might mess with my moods. I'd put it on your list of questions for your OB at your next antenatal appointment. It's a shame that natural medicine and `conventional'...

I don't believe that the hospital can make you wear a foetal heart monitor. Because I had a waterbirth, they used the doppler on me and it was fine. It wasn't annoying or uncomfortable, just a quick check every so often. I highly recommend __________________ Me DH DS TTC no. 2!

Start taking it - I didn't start taking it till I was six weeks. My midwife strongly encouraged me to. She told me that there are studies that show folate is helpful for labour, and it definitely doesn't hurt to take it throughout the whole pregnancy. Make sure you're getting your calcium and Vitamin D too!! These are essential for bone development, and as important as folate, in my opinion.

I've always just let it all come out naturally. I weighed up my options and decided that natural was best for me. I didn't want to go into hospital and have a procedure done if my body could do it naturally. And I fell pregnant again after my last miscarriage. Having said that, my last miscarriage at 10.5 weeks was very painful and if I ever miscarry again that far along, I would probably consider a D&C... but only so I...

Howdy, 1) I'm going to St George Public, due to have my 1st bub in january. Sooo I cant tell you if they're any good (for the birth anyway) but I can say that I am more than comfortable with the service I've been given so far. I have gone thru their STOMP clinic which means I dont have to go to hospital for my check ups, I go to a clinic either at Riverwood or Sth Hurstville. Plus I get the same 2 midwives assigned to me for...

Hi everyone,
MIL still in hospital. DH spoke to the specialist yesterday, the tumour has grown but it's not what's making her so sick at the moment, the calcium levels are still high which is making her ill. They've done a brain scan but not expecting it to show anything, chemo may start today, but only if BP is down. DH asked what the chemo would do and was told that it's just a ...

Chesby, this seems difficult and I don't see a clear answer.
First of all, I can say that every birth is different. I have had 3 babies, every birth was very different and had its own challenges and outcomes.
Second of all.. I don't know how to say this clearly.. but basically - hospitals can give, and believe, the wrong information too. I know I have been told lots of things that made no...

Hi Babycart
This is never an easy situation to work out and you are probably going into more depth than a lot of people ever do. Admittedly for us our considerations were who would look after our children and raise them in a way that we would be happy with, who would love them as their own, who would provide for their needs if we couldn't be there to do it ourselves. In our case we have ...

Chesby, this is interesting you posted this. I was seriously *that second* wondering the same thing, because I aslo got terrible infection after having an IUD fitted. I ended up with severe tubal adhesions and was told I'd need IVF (obviously wrong).
I can't think of any other contraceptive that will be suitable but I am worried about risking another infection.
Is this a concern for you?

i found the lansinoh to be really thick and not so easy to apply on sore nipples ... and it made them itchier which was weird!!

Hi there AM -
Thank you for that, I will try and get hospital notes after the birth this time as I feel this is a good practice that encourages transparency. I just didn't know much with the last birth at all I now realise! Thanks for the advice.

I'm six and a half months now. Sometime before the birth, I'd love to go and have my hair highlighted. I know I won't have time after and I look like a horror! Is there any safe time to go and have hair colouring done? Say, from week 34 on or something?

It's never easy to be a Mum.
It's never easy to be a young mum.
It's also something you'll never regret.
And also NEVER EVER EVER believe people when they tell you that being a Mum will stop you getting stuff done.
I had my twins at 21.. they were unplanned, and then I copped a double whammy when I found out it was twins. I was in my 3rd year of uni, and really not ready to...

1) i've read that women have said they had ultrasounds at 6 weeks and the heartbeat was fine ect... why is it necessary to get an ultrasound done that early? and do you need to request it or is it recommended?
Usually a U/S is done in early stages for parents to know how far they are actually along.
2) i am extremely tired.. to the point where everyday i am having 2-3 hour naps in the ...

He is panicking, and taking the easy way out- he is running scared. Too bad you cant run scared, it is inside of you!! How do men do this and have a clear conscience I will never know. How can they leave a woman alone to make the decisions, to carry the baby, all the physical and emotional demands of having a baby. Grrr, this makes me so mad! He had sex too- he should foot the responsibility! So ...

Nawwww for you!
I got soooo sick of this during my last pregnancy I wanted to at everyone! I am quite tall (nearly 6ft) and slim - but I'm all legs and not much body from the waist up LOL so my bubba had no where to go but OUT. In the later stages of my pregnancy, I also started to swell - my legs, my feet, my cankles, my face.....all of me was big. Everyone kept saying OMG ...

Unfortunately that would be a big fat no. If you had a private room it would be ok but I was told DF couldn't stay because it wouldn't be fair to other patients and there's just not enough room. I'd just had a traumatic labour and birth (which I missed), was devestated and they still said no to me and DF. It sucks, I'll be going private next time.
