Thanks so much for all the helpful replies!! I went for a check up with him to which the Dr simply replied there is no such thing as behind so don't worry... . Recently a family member randomly suggested that perhaps he has a hearing problem or even an ear infection though which may cause him to start mispronouncing his words which he once said clearly. I do have some great news though, I have been working one on one quite alot for the...

My fella doesn't say any words, just baby babble. He doesn't do any of the other things you mentioned either, except walking. Feeding time is a nightmare and I really don't know how he is surviving on the little food he will eat. He's 14 mths. I'm not worried though, like you say, he is very happy and capable in other things. I put his lack of talking down to the lack of interaction with other kids.

If you think he is delayed get on the list at the infant development team at your nearest children's hospital. The lists can be 6-7 months long. You can always cancel the appointment if it isn't needed.

Lots of kids don't have many words at 15 months. Some kids don't walk at 15 months. Each of those in isolation aren't too unusual, coupled together probably a bit less common. What does concern me is what you said about him regressing. That's not a good sign. I'd be seeking some help as early intervention is very important for kids with all sorts of issues. The lack of words & saying them not quite right can...

I've just started doing the exercises out of "you can teach your baby to read" (it's by glenn doman, you can find it at the library) with my son (who just turned 19 months) but you can do them with younger bubs very easily. Takes just 3 min or so a day and my son LOVES it. Really good for stimulating their minds I just explain everything to my son (have done since he was little), how ...

Tis normal Boys generally speak later As long as he is able to communicate with you in other ways, just keep talking to him and he'll catch up, and then he won't ever stop!

My son has/had it too. When he first saw the paed at 7 months we were told that based on his development at that stage, he probably wouldn't walk before 2 and it would more likely be 3. We were shocked and worried. The do like to give the worst case scenario. But he powered along with the physio, OT, speech. He walked at 19 months. He's about to turn 3 and at a recent assessment his physio said ...

There is no harm in getting some medical advice if you are worried. I know that my 5 month old also stands on her ankle when we hold her up to stand. We are a bit concerned about it as she was breech and had to have lots of tests to check her hips so we will ask the questions at her next appointment. I think if you feel concerned then get it checked for sure. It could just be about her ...

My DD can, but not very well and certainly not without the training wheels. And she's nearly 6 years old. Even on a tricycle when she was younger she had trouble pedalling, and we wondered whether it was lack of strength or lack of coordination. She has also always been behind other children on other gross motor skills, like jumping (lands with stiff knees till 6 months ago, hated trampolines as ...
