RouterStats Lite will provide graphs of noise margin and connection speed, plus a text log file if you enable that. Scroll down past the full product on that page - I find that quite difficult to handle. Just put a shortcut to it in your Startup folder and you will have full records. My connections drops frequently, probably up to 10 times a day i would imagine if i were to monitor it. Follow a disconnect, my router will not reconnect without a reboot. So you would assume [censored] line quality or a dodgy router; correct? Well just before the connection stops working (i.e web traffic not getting to/from destination) which is usually about a minute before the actuall adsl connection drops, the noise margin has always...

Hi James, I'm using a netgear DGN2000 (Broadcom I think). In fact the falling SNR values, discoonections and resyncing has been happening again during the last few hours. For the last 24 hrs I was at approx. 4000 kbps sync, 40 db attenuation & 9 db noise. Three disconnections in the last few hours and I'm now at 1600 kbs, 39 db attenuation & 25 kb noise. So much for a 24 Mbs service! I can e-mail you my...

That offpeak period still costs the ISP as much to provide service in as the peak period. Those who offer higher usage allowances or unlimited usage in an offpeak period do so on the basis that service (ie speed and latency) may well reflect that reality. It's a case of you get what you pay for really. ISPs that run their networks so as to avoid (to the best of their ability) congestion wont offer unlimited usage or higher off peak...

Also in response to vivaciti, i have requested my MAC key which should be with me by monday then i will order the new service to see if its any better. A few thing i need to know is how long is the contract, i read someone its...

Is this a Netgear DG834G v1/2/3 - if so, thats possibly the issue. We've found them to be very unstable on the ADSL2+ platform and they don't appear to be able to cut it, whereas a DG834G v4 or DG834GT works perfectly, probably because it has a Broadcom chipset and not an old Texas Instruments one that's found in the v1/2/3... Thinking about it, the same problem also exists on other routers using the Texas...

Should not be the network holding this down as it is fully open. We do also have others using torrents, so I'm not sure what to suggest. I have opened up torrents on our test machine and pulled down stuff with no problems. Have you looked at your upload cap as now you are on a faster service if your saturating the upload this will have an effect on your ability to download. www....

The Murphx product is a wholesale one. Vivaciti were the first to (openly) resell it. Its their "Premium Home Product" on this webpage . No throttle, 50GB/month. Only real downside is no offpeak period. (Hmm. No alarms went off for me, I wonder which of us is at risk?) I've a feeling some others were offering the package but I'm not sure who at the moment.
