In reply to a post by dusty : Its only good because you can get it as a bundle, as soon as all in sundry can get it, that's when it will go down the pan. Keep it like it is, i say. Everyone could get UK Online, but that didn't mean the network fell to pieces. Indeed, everyone can get O2 LLU which is also doing just fine (current O2 forum issues relate to non-LLU). Oliver. In reply to a post by BlueHuman : Be interesting to see what happens when I get the new router. Just unplug the old one, plug in the new one, and set any wireless equipment to use the key provided on the sticker. Or use a wired computer; visit the webpage (http://192.168.1.1) and change the wireless settings to whatever you want. Its generally recommended to change the ISP provided settings for best security, long WPA or WPA2 passwords are...

Hi, I have been with Sky for a couple of months now since switching from o2, things are ok, but I think I should be getting a faster speed, streaming can be a bit rubbish. However, I have used tests using the thinkbroadband tester and another, which both suggest I have a dowload speed of 7mb and upload of .65, however, when I rang Sky to ask about increasing speed as I pay for the umilited package an my line should be able to support 13mb,...

Connection speed reported by the router is normally 100% accurate - but you can never get a download speed equal to what the router reports. There are various overheads and so if you can run a speedtest and download consistently at around 80% of the router value, then that's normal. So if your router is reporting 9mbit and you download at 7mbit thats normal. The question would be why you don't get the 13mbit you expected and...

Been on SKy Max about a year, for 1st 6 months was getting a steady 6mb connection, my line was DLM'd around May and as a result my connection was capped at 5mb. About a week ago I lost connection for the afternoon, rang Sky & was told problem at exchange and would be back online later. When finally reconnected my connecton speed has suddenly dropped to 4mb? Checked service details on MYSKY and its still says 5mb?? Tried...

I would laugh at it all didn't make me cry I have had exactly the same response from Sky, who I think are just plainly lying, but [insert disclaimer] I don't have the tech knowledge to prove it [/insert disclaimer]. Having been stated by one of Sky's Technical Solutions people that the max upload cap on all unlimited lines was 1024kbpps, I assume they try to enforce this rigorously....

Been very good for me, no need to call them other than to get my max_delay lowered for gaming pings and to enquire why there was an outage. They quickly informed me that it was BT doing work at my exchange. Great speeds with no slowdowns in the day/evening, I probably could phone them to get a little more speed out of my 18meg connection, a couple of dB shaved off their slightly ...

Your download noise margin is 2.4dB over the normal setting. Speak to customer services and ask them to lower it to 7dB. The works may gave caused a blip which caused it to be raised.

Sky's system can be a bit annoying, but it's a compromise between regular disconnects and stability. Other providers Such as BT can take days for the speed to return to normal.
