In reply to a post by pompeydon : If you re-authenticate just after 2pm this will allow the bandwidth usage to be logged as 'off-peak' correctly, and the same before 7am otherwise it is a risk to be logged under peak time. Hi I don't think it is quite that easy.If you re-authenticate at 2:05 then I reckon you need to stop by 6:04. (ie say 6:00). Any time after 6:05 will be logged at 7:05 and therefore charged. But...

Hi Bob, I don think so, its more like a quarter to the hour would be a problem, as NewNet have had customers reauthenticate at 06:55 and this has been allocated to off-peak usage. Your suggestion however does make sense, but NewNet would not do it. And have e-mailed to get the ISP tag removed, and I will still come on here.

In this FAQ you will find the following:- " How do I upgrade / downgrade my service? You should login to the NewNet Customer portal and select the 'ADSL Service Change' option from the 'New Orders' section. Customers regrading to a higher service will have the option to have this applied immediately or at next bill date. If the 'next bill date' option is selected, then...

I have the same issue. I use the Sun Java console. I have Comodo Firewall and Sophos AntiVirus (with its own Firewall) but i do not believe it is a firewall issue but a Java interface issue. Any thoughts out there? Java Plug-in 1.6.0_15 Using JRE version 1.6.0_15-b03 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM User home directory = D:\Users\<username> ...

Having had to stop using Firefox 3.6 beta for other reasons I find the off peak usage has dropped to nearly nil which is normal. Back on 3.5 again and much happier.

Hi, You'll find lots of people who have been with them for years due to good speeds and customer service. Whilst not the cheapest isp out there the peace of mind you get is worth the small difference in cost. I've been with them for just on 4 years and I've looked at others, saw the forum pages, and stayed. I'm about 3.5k from the exchange and my router is Uptime: 0 days, 23:...

In reply to a post by Zinc : I replaced the router and expected my line to stabilise back to the normal 6db after a few days but this has failed to happen. It can take much longer than a few days. Some people say 14 days, some say longer. We've seen lines (my own included), to never shift back down to 6db despite having no errors/problems etc. It is possible to get BTw to ...

Always has been . Your own domain with any email address you like (that's available - for example see my web address in my sig), costs £7.50 every two years from Purple Cloud - also linked in my sig. Then you can forward to your Newnet address which no-one else needs to know. And you never have to change email address again, just alter the forwarding setting on your Purple Cloud...
