Well after two weeks, delay I am pleased to say that his email is now working. The downside to all of this is he has lost emails during that period and has had to pay Nominet £11.50 to set the Registrar tag and pay Plusnet £28.75 to host his domain for a year. A total of £40.25!. If he had known this beforehand he would never have migrated from MAAF. As for the £51.75 to renew his domain, I think that...

Hiya, Alastair's latency doesn't depend on how far away he is from his exchange - it's how far the packets have to travel (ie: Scotland to London and back again). Admittedly, his latency is very good for where he is! We have some work in place to try and improve the latency on hop 4, which I believe is happening in the next few days. Regarding hop 3 - do you notice an improvement after rebooting your router? James...

I think i would use if i change: http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/ at free transfer and just to renew for a few pounds each year! James. Put your affairs in order. By which I mean, try to make sure you are not reliant on ANYTHING from the plusnet/madasafish/whatever empire, domain hosting, Email addresses, registration at forums..... And then plan your exit from the hands of the evil barstewards. Very likely the router reboots and re-connects will be used as an excuse to dump your speed down to 250K - after which you will go slowly mad. And your geranium will catch mildew....

It is my new isp. I went to Xilo but didn't want to showboat it around the forum. A bit more expensive, but I have no limits to worry about, though I am a low user (12- 14GB per month). Speeds seem to be the same without the slow downs I was experiencing. Am on the C&W ADSL2+ LLU product, but have had it downgraded to ADSL2 for stability problems. Hi Alastair, I have the impression that you live in a remote area of Scotland, some distance from your exchange. I live in the East End of London, not too far from the exchange. Yet you always have much much lower latency than me. Around 22:00 last night I got booted off rb4-lo1.core.global.net.uk [80.189.99.252]. I landed up on lo1.pcl-ag06.plus.net [195.166.128.46]. This afternoon lo1 is just ridiculous, a damp string and two baked bean...

Hi there, I'm sorry this has gone wrong, and that you're getting mixed messages. If the domain has been detagged then you'll need to get Nominet to update the IPStag to FORCE9 and then we'll be able to add it to the Plusnet account (without it going anywhere near the old MAAF account). If you want to give me a shout once the tag and nameservers are updated I'd be happy to ...
