Thanks for the extra info. Using the connection at home, so not for business. Also realise now about traffic shaping but generally do not do anything to fancy with the connection. As I am expecting to get about 1Mb - 1.6Mb speed max anyway they can only throttle me back so far. I have loved Newnet service but and £17.95 for 12Gb its just to expensive now... I was paying £49.95with Nildram in 2001 though!

An old PC running linux and two network cards will do the job, and a bit of research will probably do. http://www.pfsense.org/index.php?option=com_content&... is one way I think. In reply to a post by philippercival : but it the lines can take vary different routes from the exchange If they were to the same premises, it is highly unlikely they would take different route. BT will only have ducting a certain way and the majority of all houses come with at least 2 pairs, for additional lines. This will follow the same path back to the exchange. If however, you need a new pull from the ground/pole, they'd simply...

Warm to the point that it disconnects. I suspect that it is just faulty and she is convinced the fan makes a difference, when in fact it makes none at all, she is not to tech savvy but lives too far away for me to inspect it. I think it is an old, Speedtouch Frog from her description, totally obsolete.

Hi, make sure you have the latest driver for your laptop wireless connection device. Configure your wireless connection with a static IP address, you tell it where to connect. On the taskbar there will be a small grey monitor icon, click on it with left hand mouse button, then click -> Properties -> scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) -> click on that, then click Properties. You should now be at 'Internet...

It's unlikely to be anything that Sky are doing and is far more likely to be the config of the laptop. It is possible that your company themselves disable VPN access via wireless due to security concerns.

I have recently signed to O2 broadband and the connection is brilliant, the only issue I have is my machine is in the office downstairs and my dads machine is in the attic. I have a O2 wireless box V2, but none of our computers have wireless. I don't want to run an ethernet cable from downstairs to the top of the house.
My question is can ...

Tel,
BT should be able to get another line in to your house without problem. The only issue I could see is if there is a shortage of capacity in your local area for new line installs.
Apart from that, it should be relativity painless. If you're getting another BT-based connection, try and get it done on a SIM provide (tell BT this when you order, and get a reference number from ...

You can certainly set both gateways on all the PCs for some better reliability
(manually, or whichever box is giving out IP addresses should be able to give out multiple gateways - your DHCP servers OR routers shoud also allow you to add routing entries if you want traffic for particular internet IPs to use a given gateway.
You can manually vary the order of the gateways in the ...

I imagine you're expecting to use WDS to do this. ( Wireless distribution system).
Do both devices support WDS ? Check their data sheets.
If not, you're screwed.
If they do, turn off the security and set each one up to use the other's MAC as it's WDS buddy.
