I like the sound of this .... 'Orson Welles left behind notes and drawings that show him considering a Batman movie. Gregory Peck and Basil Rathbone were the initial choices for Batman/Wayne and The Joker, but Welles seems to have wanted to play Batman and Wayne himself.' (posted by R Ram on timesonline)

It is without doubt a masterpiece, shot in stunningly beautiful black-and-white and telling a story of enormous power and haunting resonance. Much of our debate focuses on the most atavistic of...

Imagine what he could have done with The Tempest or The Fall of the House of Usher . Or the Boney stories by Arthur Upfield about an Australian Aboriginal detective, or the story of "Paddy the Cope" who ...

Baz's scar was some sort of legacy of WW1 and apparently did cause him problems, especially towrds the end of his life. No idea of the details though (presumably it would have been thought in rather bad taste to make a big deal of a relatively minor wound for publicity purposes). I can't think of any other successful actor with quite such a noticeable disfigurement though ...well, OK, there's ...
