Sad news indeed. Respect. Smudge

So sad to hear of her passing. She was an excellent stage actress who should perhaps have had more film roles than she did. I have her on video in "The Story Of Gilbert and Sullivan", a Launder and Gilliat production, which was often broadcast at Christmas time years ago.

Michael Ripper and Percy Herbert are the two I admire most but there are SO many others. Of those still extant I aways enjoy watching Dudley Sutton. He does 'fruity' very well but has been excellent in whole slew of varied roles and even turned up as William Blake on a Peter Ackroyd TV series last year.

And I suppose Izzard and Laurie as well while we're at it. Glad for them personally that they are doing so well in Hollywood and bringing a little bit of quality British topside beef to the States, but if I was honest I'd much rather they were all doing equally well at Shepperton or Pinewood making good old-fashioned British films!
