My FIL has a Roku. We decided to go for the Samsung
Blu-Ray player with Netflix functionality built in. The two devices work almost identically as far as Netflix is concerned.
Ethernet will give you a more stable feed to the box, but you're throwing an unknown quantity in there using an ethernet splitter. If indeed you are actually using a splitter....which aren't common these days.....you...

I had AT&T which was just OK, but they are going to discontinue VOIP.
I was going to go the Skype route but decided to go with Vonage.
Free calls to a landline in the UK was the decider, since my wife calls her sisters in the UK several times a week.
Had it less than a month and so far so good, no problems, quality is good, and the nice guy at the
Indian call center was very helpful.
