Mirdif is more expat orientated, Mamzar area is mainly locals and the Asian workforce, it would be more of an experience though I have to say. Wait til you get here and then take a good look around.

That's a rather worrying story but not unusual over here. So what line of work was your boyfriend in? Are you working too? It could have been worse...they could have deported you too for co-habiting out of wedlock. As you are presumably aware, it's a Police state here and you need to be very careful.

Really is a case of how long is a piece of string.
Local media will always talk up the economy here, so it can sometimes be difficult to see the wood for the trees.
