@jig: I agree that GV is getting there. Its just not exactly there. And its voice-centric, not communications centric. It does point a way there though.

On the 5800 it is a one tap hyperlink on the home screen by default. I've added it to Handy Shell as well.

FM, you might want to think twice before getting the Centro. I just spoke with a friend of mine the other day and she told me her daughter went through 3 Centros before the carrier gave up and gave her a new Jack (Blackjack 3). All the Centros kept failing.

That whole gesture thing reminded me of a Twitter client I saw for Windows Mobile. Instead of the usual tap-and-hold context menu, you just swipe off to one side, and there are your menu options. Freeing up screen space normally used for controls and using it to show relevant information would definitely help, but it still needs to be intuitive enough to use without having to dig through a manual to know it's there.

I have to admit that I've never been a fan of using tabs on a mobile device. I've always felt that there are simpler ways to present content and to drive down into settings. Of course, part of that is keeping things simple. The piece is that challenge on how to extend screens with more options, without making something more challenging than a tab. Here are a few ideas that I've had: Linear...

Unfortunately a lot of the features you most desire are particular strong suits of the Palm v. most other options. I believe you can still probably find a Palm phone to use on Sprint on eBay or even from Sprint. Otherwise, you may need a premium smartphone with lots of add-on software to handle things like to-do's, calendar, alarms, note-pad, etc. Please search through BH, because there ...

I think that's pretty cool, and very much in the realm of what is possible now. I am loving how seamless communication is on my Droid; I can go into contacts and see my friends' facebook statuses, whether they are available or away on gtalk, etc. It would be simple to add what you're suggesting, and I think it's the next step beyond where we are today.

I went with the anti-glare. Just bought a Boxwave myself, and am waiting for it to come in the mail. Works great if you are outdoors / in the car and trying to use your phone for gps, etc. There is minimal clarity difference. I had a Boxwave anti-glare on my VIIx, and TE, and loved them.

Thanks, MattJ , good update. It starts to sound realistic, don't you think? Well, I digress that it may run Palm OS, but ALP. The main inquiry would be: will it be Palm OS compatible? We could run the Palm OS apps again.
