This doesn't sound right to me. First, as a Verizon customer who'd like to be able to consider the iPhone, why would I want a 'lite' model? Frankly, I'm a bit miffed at Apple that their regular hardware upgrades have not improved the screen at all, or much of the hardware very much. Only the recent 3GS was significantly improved and only to match (sort of) other premium smartphones. I know people will say, why change...

Eh, I'm not one for semantics, but when has Nokia started calling the N900 a smartphone Glad its shipping now though. Should be some exciting times for many developers and lovers of those platforms on the edge.

HTC HD2 Preview

I totally agree I would like the option for both stylus & multi-touch & people have used this for the iPhone capacitive touchscreen so it should work with the HTC HD2 (even if they don't include it): http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=f&oq=&aqi=g10 Not sure I've seen anything as beautiful (with integrated WiFi router!) as the HD2, simply awesome, look forward to all the in depth reviews :...

My mom has been in the market for an ebook for a few months now. When she asked, I explained the Kindle and Sony options, but declined to make a recommendation. As soon as I saw this come up on the Giz, I emailed her telling her this was the the one to get (or at a minimum, the first one she should try and demo in store). I have no desire for e-ink myself, despite having half my library in eReader format and generally evangelizing ereading. I...

It is a little humorous, in a solely entertainment (vs what I think of as "real marketing") sort of way. Those sorts of ETFs and such just make me all the more adamant about saying screw the contracts - I'll pay my money up front for the device and only buy what I need as far as service goes. It will be a very cold day when any carrier "owns" me or my device.

This is a hard one to believe, indications in an article on WSJ yesterday are that Verizon and Google are getting closer and the CEOs have really hit it off:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...IDDLTopStor ies
It shows just how close Google and Verizon are getting on this Android project.
Meanwhile Verizon is running ads about what the iPhone can't do and mocking it and Google and ...

Apple is reportedly considering replacing the iPhone 3G in its lineup with a stripped-down version of the newer iPhone 3GS. This will supposedly have the same amount of storage as its predecessor, and sell for the same entry-level price. When its third-generation smartphone debuted in June, Apple took an unusual step: it held on to one model from the previous generation and offered it at ...

Verizon Has Launched the Droid and Droid Eris
The wait is over: Verizon Wireless is now offering the Motorola Droid , the new flagship of the Android OS. It also just put the HTC Droid Eris on sale, a less expensive model running the same operating system. Verizon's first two devices running Google's mobile operating system have ...

I will be looking forward to updates on this one! The HTC HD2 continues to
look like an outstanding device. My concern continues to be the lack of
stylus input. I tried using my HP 6945 while working with gloves. I found I
was able to navigate the menus on the 6945 easily even while wearing
gloves. Other than multi-touch which is an interesting feature, I see
little benefit with the capacitive ...

Ed, nice review...
Looks to be almost identical in size to the old HP Jornadas: 3.7" screen, 6 ounce weight and 0.5" thick. With regards to MS Office, I wonder if there is a version of Open Office for this device? Great device, too bad I'm locked into an AT&T contract...

Verizon's ads have been very anti-everybody else. Previously, they simply highlighted the benefits of their network, but more and more they seem to be pitting themselves against the other carriers.
Verizon recently highlighted their Blackberry phones, pitting them against every other network. While that made some sense from Verizon's perspective (especially since they really didn't have any...

Interesting results. It would be interesting to find out if older phones (i.e. the phones the participants had early in the study) would have increased the risk over newer phones.
Maybe someday we will see a phone that is "cancer free".

Ouch. $200 out of pocket, $100 after rebate is not very good for a phone
without...especially since for $50 more you get wifi, more storage and a
bigger screen from the Pre. If it were a flat $100 and the resellers could
bring it down to almost $0 with incentives that would be a better deal. But
IMHO it's way too close in price to the Pre, and it's going to be creamed
against every phone rocking ...

I can imagine the demand. I know that I'm looking at the Nook as it *seems*
a more open alternative to the Kindle. I'm still quite miffed at the whole
shebang behind ebook formats across these devices though, and that gives me
the most pause with these units. Thankfully, the Nook seems to be in the
class of supporting almost all of the formats.

Hi,
Isn't this a hoot?
Lots of good stuff there but lots of junk apps too.
Gotta be careful and do lots of searching to be sure of an app before buying.
Also lots of impulse price apps for those looking for a quick fix.
