Tracking Software Updates

I have a couple that do that, as well. (Some off to install trials of other products, too.) Again, though, it's a matter of happening to remember to check when I happen to be using that app, so it's still hit-or-miss. Not a major issue, but it sure would be nice!

The OQO is a little dated, but it runs XP (model 2 might be Vista) and it was much beloved. The age might make it possible to find a decent deal, but of course, it will perform on par with it's age as well. It's a 5" screen, 800x600. I honestly can't think of one smaller than that off the top of my head. The Vaio UX might be similarly sized, but it's very expensive. There is a large selection of tablets and MIDs as...

Not to my knowledge. Presumably anything you buy from windows marketplace will alert you to updates. And if you buy from a mobihand store (like the BH store) they'll send you an email when apps are updated. Beyond that, I don't know of anything. If you find something share it though!

If you can spend $550, there's the Archos 9. It's not quite pocket-sized, because it has an 8.9" touchscreen, but it runs Windows 7 Starter. There's also the HTC Shift running Vista with a 7" touchscreen, but I'm not sure how much it is.

New Programs Don't Show Up...
Published (2009-12-24 15:52:00)
Hi, everyone. When I install new programs (like Facebook Mobile, Weatherbug Mobile, etc.) onto my Windows Mobile phone, I can't put them onto my Today screen because they do not show up as items when I go to Settings-->Today-->Items. So there's no way for me to tell my phone to put these programs onto my Today screen. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Word Mobile

I have an HTC WM 6.1. What is cachetag? This is the name of a Word file that gets created automatically. If I delete it, it comes back. The only content in it is the # 2. Anyone have an idea what it is and how to delete it permanently. Thanks, Ray.

Not as a general rule. XP/Vista/7 programs aren't compatible with Windows Mobile, they have to be remade for Windows Mobile.
Depending on your needs, which you haven't listed here, you could consider remote desktop software that would allow you to control your PC with your PPC.

Welcome to Brighthand, raydiak!
I have no idea at the moment. Where is the file located? I'll have a look in my device and see if I have such a thing.
Better yet, perhaps somebody who actually knows about it will come along shortly with useful info. When they put down the eggnog, that is...

Welcome to Brighthand, tr1pp13.
Today plug-ins are a special type of program. Not all WM programs are Today plug-ins.
There are, however, a number of ways to place icons for programs onto your Today Screen. Some (but not all) of the options include: Spb Pocket Plus; SBSH iLauncher; UltimateLaunch; BatteryPackPro; cLaunch; HandyLauncher; ...

Er....that's really odd Joe. One of the things I loved about WM was that it automatically gave me a range of snooze settings.
My only thought is that TouchFlo3D artificially limits your snooze settings. Try disabling TF3D in the today screen settings and set an alarm for, say, 4 minutes later. See if the traditional Today screen gives you a range of alarm options. It should, unless HTC ...

And there's a follow-up editorial by Dave Rosenberg at CNET in which he recommends Microsoft drop Windows Mobile and either buy Palm and use the webOS or switch to Google's Android.
