Most Common .223 Bullet Weight

QUOTE (HRider @ Dec 11 2009, 08:35 AM) I think the switching ammo rule must be match specific. At the unsanctioned matches that I have been too, as long as the ammo meets the rules (non magnetic, makes power factor if there is a chrono, etc) it is good to go. I just reread the Ft.Benning rules (the most recent match held) and there was no mention of using only one type/weight bullet for the match. I also use good stuff for...

It depends on your barrel twist. In my limited experience the 75s generally don't do as well in 1/9 or slower barrels, however some people's rifles like them. Most folks tell me not to run anything heavier than a 69gr in a 1/9 barrel. I have a rifle with a 1/7 that likes 75gr bullets. It will also shoot well with Hornady 55fmj. Some of the other 55fmj factory loads don't do as well out of this rifle. So I guess what I am trying...

QUOTE (Dan Sierpina @ Dec 11 2009, 03:26 PM) Don 't buy the 75 or 80 grain Amax bullets. They are meant for High Power competition and single loading for the 600 yard slow fire. I didn't know that. Thanks. After a lot of putzing around, it seems that I've come to the same conclusion a lot of others have - just spend a few extra bucks and get the 69gr SMK's. I've got a 1:8 twist and have some Varget on...

55 grain in general. 69 grain on steel or more than 300 yards out.

55's I'd guess.. since the largest percentage of targets are under 100 yards.. When you start getting out to 200-350yds or more.. 69s, I would think become the most common

MG 55's are great, for the longer shots over a 100 I go to the 77gr SMK. Rifle is doped with the 77's and close enough at 100 or less. Just a matter of cost.

That's still impressive performance. Most guys who've been into this sort of shooting for the short time you have wouldn't have been able to make the standards for IDPA Marksman. Good job!

I do believe the formula is: Change in POI equals change in FS height times the distance from the rear sight to the target divided by the distance from the rear sight to the front sight (all units of distance being the same for each measurement - inches, feet, meters or whatever).

I'm thinking the same question myself. I'm a miser, I dry fire a lot and shoot about 60 live fire rounds a week. I hope the guys with more experience would chime in.

This is the stage diagram: http://www.uspsa.org/classifiers/08-06.pdf I have no experience shooting a fixed time stage, so I could use help with respect to that too. Fixed time + super long distances = P.S. Yeah,I know my spelling is bad.

Cost depends on a number of factors..... USPSA, IDPA or both? What division? Let's assume you plan to shoot production division in USPSA and that you already own guns for that division (M&P or Glock are most common) Do you each have a gun? Do you have atleast 5 x 10 shot magazine? You could share mags if you have the same type of gun. Do you have holsters and atleast 2 double mag pouches ...

I would say the basics would be as long as the gun is pointed in a safe direction and you don't cross a body part you should be golden. Beyond that, take a look at some of the vids of the top shooters on youtube and watch what they do and that should help. I am by no means an expert on the rules in different shooting sports though so take what I am saying with a grain of the appropriate ...

No need to fix something that's viewed largely as working. You can shoot 9mm in Limited, with minor scoring of course. Actually I like shooting my G17 in Limited. With my Dawson extended base pads I can get something like 26 rounds stuffed in them. Big stupid pile o' fun. Jim

I can't comment about a CZ but I've never had any issues getting new holsters for my glocks in lefty. That said, there is an obvious issue with holsters on the used market. Look at Talon Tactical or Ready Tactical (from CPWSA). I ordered them and received both within a week. I'll save you some trouble though, the Ready Tactical is a bit more Dropped and Offset than the Talon. ...
