Should soften the blow to poor hubby when I go bald, right? *grin* I'm going to be sooooooooooo ugly bald! Good thing hubby has the option of...

November Mastectomy
Published (2009-11-28 17:57:42)
( I went out today for the first time since coming home from the hospital. Went to breakfast and then the dump with my husband, then to the grocery store and CVS. As per usual, I had to pick up a Rx for Diflucan to go along with my antibiotic. How come men don't get yeast infections every time they take an antibiotic? DH made an awesome turkey soup with the leftovers from Thursday. Later...

Hi, am not often logging in these days, but I just thought i'd say hi and mine went well. I hope you get some replies soon, sure you will. I had my double mast and imediate SIAE reconstruction done last feb. I had my nipples reconstructed last month and am getting tattoes in the next few months. I was very very happy with the result. I hope you get lucky like me and that they find when...

Thanks to both of you...I'm meeting with the BS today \(in fact, in less than an hour\) and came here to research my questions and get reassurance. This is such a crazy journey we're all on...some of us further along and on bumpier roads, but your kind words of encouragement make me realize I too, can get through this. Here's hoping all our American sisters here can pause and give thanks ...

Hate to tell you ladies but my SNB was far worse than my bilateral mastectomy :\( My surgical oncologist said it can take up to 18 months to heal. I had mine June 2008 \(almost 17 months ago\) and I am just now getting back full range of motion. Still have numbness and occasional sharp pain. ,

Panchoandlefty-- I just got home from the hospital a couple of hours ago \( SNB + left-side mastectomy w/o recon\). I, too, had seen lots of helpful suggestions on this board. Here's my experience \(so far\), FWIW: Some hospitals provide camis and/or surgery bras to their patients. Mine provided 1 safety pin and a measuring cup, plus some opened packages of sterile gauze bandage material...

Julia- You are not pathetic and shallow! Seriously, this is a big deal. I don't have a lot of advise for you and wish I could be more helpful. My DCIS was in 3 quadrants so I wasn't offered a lumpectomy. But, I am pretty sure that if you just have the lump removed and don't have clear margins, you haven't accomplished anything. I am pretty sure that if you have a mastectomy, your insurance ...

Kim, I had mine taken out on the 21st of October. Yes, it's still very fresh. The left was prophylactic - and a very good idea, the pathology showed it was "getting ready to get there" as well. I had decided on immediate reconstruction. Yes, I know they will always be "foobs" and never feel like my old boobs felt. But - and believe me, I am a woman who is VERY vain about her appearance ...

I had both drains from bilateral mx/recon pulled with absolutely no pain. Just the uncomfortable sensation as I could feel them being pulled under the skin \(quite a ways, I'd say\). Don't be worried, it's a piece of cake. ,

Hi Debra, I guess I'll jump on in since no one else seems to want to. lol I had a bilateral mastectomy July 29th so I have the double scars. I know I'm extremely lucky because I have the most caring and understanding husband any woman could ever hope for. We have been very open with each other about our feelings and how my diagnosis effects us "as a team." When we make love, I wear a ...
