Lisa, I'm bilateral too, and sleeping on my back gives me a headache (besides, it's boring! ) So I do sleep on either side, but I've taught myself to keep my arm out from under me. Helps to sleep with an extra pillow to hug so my arms are relaxed but extended. I lost some sleep at first stressing over not curling my arms under me, but within a week or so it felt natural and comfortable. I'm really sorry no one gave you any...

( Thanks Kira. I seemed to have gotten it stopped. I wore my compression sleeve all weekend and did the stretches with heat. It is still a little tender under my arm, but the cording stopped in the armpit and did not continue down my side. The hard, visible cord that ran from wrist is no longer visible and just hurts when I massage it. Thanks so much for you help and advice. I am sure you hleped me get...

So ladies, Have any of you had complete decongestive therapy and it helped you feel better (mobility increase, pain reduction), but it didn't bring the swelling down? I'm just curious re: what this study is saying versus what people are really experiencing. Chloe

( Here I am. I lifted before bc and resumed soon after my surgery. I think the most important thing is to build up gradually, as everyone says, but even more importantly listen to your body. You will know if you are pushing it. I lift 8 pound weights and ignored a lot of soreness \(with my workout schedule something is always sore\) which may have contributed to my LE. I still lift 8 pound weights, but I...

Sea, I too had cords that I could see in my arm, and arm pit. I also had swelling. Most of it went away with time. I still have some swelling in my surgery area. Keep doing your exercises. Lymphedema was different than the swelling I had post surgery. But keep a good eye on it. Be careful not to lift anything heavy nothing more than 5 lbs after surgery to be sure, then nothing more...

Here's something: Go to Breastcancer.org Home \(upper left\) Scroll all the way down the the bottom and click on "Contact Us" The first option is for website feedback, which leads to a contact and comment page. That should get you started. I have found that there is ALWAYS a way to contact a company or organization. Be well, Maria ,

I know that you are tired of being special. I feel the same way. If there is a complication related to treatment or surgery that is unique, I probably had/have it. Unfortunately I can't identify with your particular problem as I do not have any lasting effects from radiation, but there are plenty of other goodies in the bag! Keep on keeping on!

Thanks Binney, that is what I was thinking. the therapist buys direct from the manufacturer and doesn't add any mark-up so we get them at cost + shipping. They don't file it with the insurance which would add to the cost so I get my gauntlets for around $11 each. My MIL got a puppy Shitzu this summer \(Lucifer the devil dog per my husband\), and I have to be careful when we go to see her ...

Thanks for the info. I let my mother know the information. To make matters worse she has a history of having major bacterial infections that she has recently had to deal with. I think it is nuts that they are doing the surgery! ,

Hi, s-mom, Brava to you for thinking about this and taking steps to protect yourself! There are lots of things you can do to reduce your risk. Some are about avoiding things, and others are about taking positive steps to promote lymph flow. Here are two websites with information: www.lymphnet.org (look for their Position Papers on Risk Reduction, Air Travel, and Exercise) http://www....

And do you hold the swollen arm up? Can you describe any better where you press on the back? Like how many inches in from your side and down from your shoulder? Thanks. ,

I am guessing maybe Seattle? It sure hits a lot of your criteria. I am in Austin Texas and this will be my first summer with LE. I am pretty worried about what it will be like and joked to my husband "Uh-oh, we're going to have to move to Corvalllis (Oregon)." I'd be tempted but I need to stay close to MD Anderson in Houston for my onc doc. I don't know what the LE care situation in Corvallis ...

Hi I am wondering if I have breast lymphedema also. When I wake up most mornings for the last month, I have pain in the area of the breast where my lumpectomy and SNB was performed. It also awakens me some nights. However I have had a few mornings where I did not have it so do not know how to figure that into the diagnosis. It is always tender to the touch and some days I do have ...
