I didn 't have an MX but after my lumpectomy I found putting a pillow next to me on the surgery side allowed me to lean a tiny bit on that side without pain. It felt a little better than flat on my back. Jenn, hope you are having fun at your party and forgetting about all of the BC stuff! I...

See.. I told you I still had chemo brain If you get mouth sores, there's a little cocktail you can whip up with liquid benadryl and Maalox. EMLA or lidocaine cream- if you have a port, you can apply the cream to the area beforehand to numb it. You do need a prescription for this and they'll want to see that the port site is healed before you use it.

Hi Tracy - I think we're on another July chemo thread together. I'm from Snoqualmie. I was diagnosed in May 2008 and my profile looks a lot like yours. Surgery at Swedish, chemo at Overlake. I'm 58, married with one grown son, full-time consultant working at home for now, since I can't travel full-time like I normally do. Hey ladies - who else is out there? Maybe we can ...

Take a deep breath. Buy a folder and a calendar to keep track of paperwork, appts and symptoms/side effects. Educate yourself, but don't overdose. Get a copy of your pathology report and slowly look up what each thing means so you have a clear picture of what is going on. The drs tend to give a simplicist view at first because they don't want to overwhelm you. But once you've digested...

Hi mommy2two, Sorry for your news, but at least we can go thru these experiences together. I first thought I wouldn't need chemo either, but after surgery #2 when they realized there was more NODE involvement, it then became a must. I'll only be two days ahead of you with treatment, so I will let you know how I fare. I went to "Chemo-Class" last evening with my hubby. I told my nurse I ...

Welcome txstardust. I saw three oncs and one of them suggested ACx4, followed by Tx4. Twelve weeks of Taxotere \(or is it Taxol?\) sounds like a lot. But I see chinablue on the Sept thread is having the same Tx. I see what you mean about not wanting to rearrange your life because of the damn cancer. Good luck with the surgery on Friday. ,

Atavin- I also had very little side effects and was worried. Now that I' m 2 months out, I realize I was feeling pretty icky. I was just expecting it to be really bad. I worked, worked out and hung out with friends. Make sure you eat healthy, get enough sleep and exercise every day. Even if it's just a short walk. My side effects were all manageable. You'll be great! Good luck to you!

So, I will join you! I will not be getting a port for I have ropes as veins. Good luck tomorrow with the port. Don't forget to pick up some chocolate when you go shopping...

Hi. I'm new here also. I am gettin 2nd chemo treatment on August 1 '07. I'm on Carboplatin, Taxotere and Herceptin every three weeks. Make sure that you drink plenty of fluids the days before during and after treatment ezpecially with the taxotere and things will be nicer for you. I was diagnosed 4/27/07 with 1 lumpectomy and 2 nodes removed. But was Her2/pos and hormone receptive negative....

Hi, Kristy, I remember you. I'm not starting chemo in May, but I'll be continuing it through May and into June. I'm getting 4 cycles of Taxotere/Cytoxan, given at 3-wk intervals. I started April 3, so my 3rd tx will be in mid-May \(assuming all goes well with #2 next week\). I don't think there is another group for May, so I'll try to help you keep this one active \(and on the 1st page ...

Hello! I will be meeting with my oncologist for the first time on September 17th. My breast surgeon says that she typically likes to start with chemo (I have unclear margins and cancer cells in the 2 of the 3 nodes pulled). I see her the 17th and my surgeon thinks I'll probably start chemo the following week. I started with a lumpectomy and partial lymph node removal, and now it's looking ...

Diane, I am not on CT but wish I was\(Am doing the AC + T dose dense\), the studies for that regimen is very promising and it is said to have far less side effects than AC. When times get tough remember this is only temporary, My first chemo was the worst one too, cause you are going into an unknown, your oncologist should be able to tweak your treatment going forward. Everyone has a ...

Yes, you ARE almost there. I finished chemo on June 15th \(2 years ago\) and I went without anything \(wig or hat\) at the end of August. It was short but most people thought I was just being trendy. Ok, well, that's what I told myself. My avatar pic is from over a year ago, which was one year after finishing chemo. Once it starts growing it grows quickly. ,

Hi Jenn! I tried to post a big long message here earlier but I lost the whole thing. Don't know how that happened but I will try it again! My name is Karen. Hi there...I started this regime on 1/26 but I am doing 6 rounds every 3 weeks with just the Herceptin sandwiched between. My hair did go but I refused to shave it so I still have fuzz. Lost some brows and lashes but only I can tell. No more shaving tho! I have had NO...repeat...NO..nausea or vomiting (thank you Kytril). Some tingling in fingertips/toes but no nail changes. Taste changes ...
