Here is a link to the Pure Food and Wine Thanksgiving menu, in case you are interested. It is still posted although I don't know for how long... http://oneluckyduck.com/news/?p=387 Also, for all of you fellow "hippies" out there, although I like to think of myself as an urban hippie, I found this website. They sell cheeses made out of only organic nuts and raw ingredients. It is pricey, but I just ordered some as a...

Terri you really should go to naturalthyroidchoices for the best info on the thyroid. The gal who started it has a yahoo group that you can sign up for, where people talk constantly about their test scores. You will learn a lot just by reading it, which is what I do. I do not pay a lot of attention to the thyroid numbers because I am not on any thyroid drugs, but I think someone said that their levels went up when they started iodine, but...

( DGHoff, great post and great article... thanks for posting that. I, too, go to Quackwatch fairly frequently in my quest for getting down to the truth. I wish it were objective and fact-based, but it does help me get the worst possible scenario of the other side of any alternative I'm considering. Overall, Quackwatch has \(ironically\) persuaded me that certain alternative approaches are indeed legitimate \(even though it obviously...

( I have come to realize how much I rely on this forum for support. I want to thank each of you for all the love and prayers and ongoing camaraderie. I look f forward to coming here several times a day to see who's on or has left valuable information. I do have family, but until someone has heard "You have cancer " it is impossible to relate to in on the level that you all can. I am truly grateful to be living in a time...

( For what it's worth, I agree with you MTG, but for somewhat different reasons. We all know about blood clotting, but that's just one factor to be concerned about with surgery. Unless we know as much about anesthesia meds and every other med they might give us during surgery as we wish all of our docs knew about supplements and herbs, then I think it's foolish to risk a possible drug-herbal interaction. I would...

Yes, I had read that article in the NY Times. It is so pathetically one-sided and ignorant. I was actually surprised that they ran an article like this as recently they have run other articles that were more positive toward altneratives and integrative medicine - especially in relation to cancer.

My Naturopathic Oncologist at the Seattle Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center says the lowest our vitamin d level should be is 50 and the highest 100. A great website for information on vitamin d is www.vitamindcouncil.org. Also, www.nih.gov states, under 'vitamin d fact sheet,' that anyone over the age of twelve months (yes, months) can safely take 2000 iu's per day. My Dr. has me on 5000 per ...

< The researchers below found an association between the size/swelling/volume of the thyroid and the stage of breast cancer. Swollen thyroid usually indicates hypothyroidism where the thyroid is expanding to create more surface to absorb iodine from the bloodstream. Those with no breast disease (the controls) had smaller, healthy thyroids. Those with fibrocystic (benign) disease and cancers ...

As a young woman, estrogen in birth control pills kept you from getting pregnant. Estrogen also may have been used to keep your periods regular and acne clear. Hi anm, I am so sorry to read that you have another loved one dealing with the pain of cancer. I hope that, whatever methods she ends up using will provide her some relief from the pain. I have become very familiar with the whole alkline/acid theories about our blood, and this is a very commonly discussed approach in natural cancer treatments. Ideally, the pH of the blood should be ...

My friend who just had a recurrence has has 3 thermographs over the past 2 1/2 years. She kept telling me how it detects breast cancer 8 years before mammograms. Her most recent one was about 6 months ago. Sounds much LESS likely to catch b.c. than a mammogram. As for the 8-yr claim, I've seen no data on that. That web site is not the official position of the Univ. of Chicago. That is one ...
